When we got our female Raven (reverse brindle) we constantly got asked the same thing. We would walk her on a leash around the parks and people would literally pick their children up off the ground

People are funny and ignorant. I saw an article in the paper once about pits and had a pic of a boxer! I guess they got complaints as it was corrected. People that don't know dogs see a short haired dog and panic. This is why it was important to me to get papers for Nikki. I didn't want to worry about some idiot causing trouble and having to prove her breed or even risk losing her. Where I am BSL is in place.

My girlfriend was walking Murphy and this lady was frightened by him. Nothing he was doing. He wasn't barking or trying to go after her. She said to my girlfriend were not suppose to have pitbulls here. So she told her he wasn't a pitbull he was a boxer to which she replied well aren't they the same thing. My girl was the bigger person and just walked away but if it were me I would have had a nice conversation with her hahaha

When we had our boxer SuzyQ I bet I heard 100 times is she a pit bull? Now we have Sadie a pit mix and I've had half dozen people tell me they are sure she is mixed with boxer. I don't see anything remotely boxer about her. People are just goofy. Years ago we had a very large black german shepherd and a couple people were sure he was a great dane. You just can't believe what people think.

We get asked that all the time. It's because they are white & a lot of people just don't think of white when they think Boxer. We've been TOLD he must be a pit mix by complete strangers as well lol

Why do people think we don't know our own babies? It's so annoying sometimes. It shouldn't matter either if they were. I believe it's how the animal is raised and what kind of environment they live in that determines if an animal will be violent. Sure there are bad seeds in every breed but you can't lump them all into one category just like you cant with humans. I try not to let it bother me so much but when they give me that look like there's something wrong with my baby I just want to punch them in the face lol but I don't of course

I totally agree.. it's not the breed but the "owner". If Cruz is a mix it would make no difference to me. He is a rescue and all that matters to me is he is safe & happy.
I actually just found out today that Boxers are in the top 10 list of most dangerous breeds!! Really??? I think these list consist mostly of breeds that people who are scared of dogs are scared of. I've actually had women scream and push their children behind them when they see Cruz. One woman screamed and then said "He scared me he scared me!" angrily as if HE did something wrong... when in fact all he was doing was happily walking beside me, on his leash.... wearing his sock monkey sweater.. like really.. THAT'S terrifying?? He looked so cute lol I didn't even bother saying anything to her because I thought it was ridiculous & that's what I would have said so I just bit my tongue, looked at her with confusion on my face and kept walking. lol

Yeah....my friend just adopted a dog and it is so obvious that it is some sort of Beagle-Terrier mix (does not look like a Pit at all - short legs, long ears, round body, 25 lbs.) she goes into a pet store and they say her dog looks like it is a Pit-mix. I think people just default to that...not really sure why. LOL!

Omg a sock monkey sweater? Frankie definitely needs one of those lol. I can't believe their even on that list. Frankie's one of the most loving sweetest dogs I've ever owned. My weenie's meaner then him lol. Here in Texas boxers are one the top dogs that get stolen. That scares the crap out of me
