Somehow Abby has been getting the black tray bottom from her crate out of the crate. She started doing it last Thurs and has done it everytime she’s been crated. I don’t know if it’s anxiety from being crated at the vets for so long after her spay or if it’s just because she has so much energy bottled up now. Today I decided to set up my video recorder to see how she’s doing it. Unfortunately the tape ran out before she got the tray out so I still don’t know how she’s doing it. I’ll be trying again Thursday afternoon (I’ll be home tomorrow so she won’t be crated).
I skimmed through the tape quickly while I was home for lunch and saw that she’s biting at the crate wires now. She started doing it about 11.5 minutes after I left the house and it looked like she’d bite for a few seconds, do some barking/whining, more biting, and then she’d lay down for a while and repeat it. Any suggestions on what I can do? I’m not home when she’s doing it so the only thing I can think of is to spray bitter apple on the crate and see if that helps. The other idea I had is to start testing her on leaving her out of the crate. I think with her being in the crate watching Logan roam the room freely might be adding to her stress. I’m wondering if they’d be ok out together. Ugh… now I’m stressing about something else. Just what I didn’t need right now. L

Micky did it once and it turns out the little latch to keep the liner in was not properly in place. (looking at it now, it isn't anymore). Check to make sure that is still how it should be, and possibly zip tie it shut.

Most wire crates have a tab that stops the try from being able to slide out. If yours does not, I would take a couple Zip ties and zip the bottom couple of bars so it stops the tray from popping out.
My old girl was famous for doing this. She would shimmy her hole body to move the tray. Once she got it moved a couple inches she stepped back and pushed it out with either her feet or her mouth.
