Last night stella was midsleep when she woke all of a sudden and seemes unable to breathe. She was making sort of a snorting noise almost like trying to hawk something up. Kinda scary but after 10-15secs she was totally fine.
Also every once in a while she will cough and choke out of nowhere. Maybe she had food stuck in her throat for an hour or so... I don't believe it would be kennel cough since it would have been full blown by now. Just wanted to say sorry I havent been on as much as I had lately. I started working again. I work 9-6 and takes an hour to get to, and hour and half to get back. I've been pretty tired and exhausted. Stella has been coming with me when ever Jocelyn can't watch her. Stella is now 7mo, and 41lbs. She has my buddies 11yr old lab to hang out with. I usually need to tie stella up for most of the day because she likes to run off and explore too far from the shop. So ill put her on a 15ft rope to be inside or out. Then let her off and try her trust again. When she doesn't listen.... its back to being tied up. She seems to be slowly making progress. If caught her out in the middle of the street once and down a few shops quite a few times. Not too much of a big deal since this is in a industrial park area with not a whole lot of traffic to worry about. I know she won't really run away. She's just very curious and likes to snoop around. We do have a fairly good sized parkinglot for her to cruise around and boxer burn... ![]() ![]() ![]()

Little update on the snorting thing I noticed just now she was walking around making a hawking noise, as if you were to breathe deeply through your nose to get the flem ready to spit... proabbly a little gross to most but that's the onlt way I can think to explain it. She could just possibly have a cold. I caught her sneezing a few times today

Have you ever heard of reverse sneezing? If not, try Youtubing some videos of it. The snorting noises you're describing sounds like it could be reverse sneezing. If it is, it's probably nothing to worry about. I freaked out when Riley started doing it after he was diagnosed with heart issues, but found out it was harmless.
Good to hear you're working again!

Mandy is right, this sounds like reverse sneezing. When it happens, take your fingers and cover her nostrils. It will stop the attack.
They are completely harmless.

If it is reverse sneezing, it is harmless. I had a black lab mix that did it often... When in doubt, a trip to your vet. Stella looks quite at home in the shop! Does she get a paycheck too? He, he, he...

I just looked up a video on reverse sneezing that looks to be it! How weird. Any idea why it happens? Stella woke up this morning yaking again with nothing coming out. I think she's got hair or fuzz stuck I her throat or something. But thanks guys. I've taken these last 3 days off because of back spazm and I can barley move. Betting better slwy tho! Ill keep stella updated more often with more pictures
