Hi!
New to the forum, but have been here a few times checking on issues and topics of interest, but this is my 1st post (YAY!). Sadly, though it's because my 4 yr old female Zoe is experiencing some stressing issues. First and foremost, she has a couple *"lumps" on the underside of her bobbed tail. They're kinda dark and she is CONSTANTLY licking at them.....any ideas on what they might be? She seems to like it when I gently scratch around the area or at the base of her tail (which makes her salivate and lick her lips a lot). *Secondly, she's doing a LOT (just last night and today) of HACKING....like she's got a hairball, she gets to the point where she gags and looks to vomit, but nothing is coming up. She is a bit lethargic today, not her usual jovial self. * Other than that, she seems her normal self, appetite is still good (so far) and she still seems playful when enticed with her toys. Just to be on the safe side, I'm gonna schedule her a trip to see her vet on Monday, her last checkup was in the spring for her annual rabies shot. ANY help/advice would be greatly appreciated!! Thanks! |

Welcome to the forum, sorry you are having some problems. *Kiah had kennel cough but it sounded more like she was trying to clear her throat. *She had had her shots but there are so many varieties, the vet said that the shot covers only the most common. *The lumps could be insect bites but good idea to have your vet check them out.

the bumps on her tail she's had for a while (more than a year). The 1st one (which she's had most of her life....just thought it was part of the tail bobbing process) and now there's a smaller one next to the bigger one, kinda look like moles..... dark in color
and like i said, she keeps licking at them or at the base of her tail On the up side, just fed her some cooked pork and she gulped it down and followed it with a BIG hit on her water dish...... so her appetite is still good (guess that's a good sign at the very least) but am DEFINITELY calling the vet tomorrow for an exam |

What about a mole that has formed where the tail was docked... It seems like they are growing from incision siteAttachment 21749... No ulceration.. Doesn't seem to hurt.. Wondering if there is any known meds for this? If it is normal?

I agree, get her into the vet as quickly as you can to have them checked out. Fingers are crossed that it's something that can simply be taken care of. Keep us posted. In the meantime, Hi & Welcome from TX. Glad to hear that she's still eating & drinking good as well as playing.
