Default Different types of neuter?

Ok...so I got Bo back from the vet after his neuter, and I was expecting a small little incision on his scrotum...and then there to be flatness...however...looking at his reproductive area, the incision goes a good inch up his penis...why would they have cut into his penis and not just the scrotum? *Is there something that I should watch for as this seems more invasive than most other neuterings I have heard about?

As you know I just got Baxter back from his neuter and there is about a one inch cut down the center of his scrotum, but does not extend any further.
Sorry I couldn't be of more help.

yeah, that's about what i was expecting...with Bo it's not even touching his scrotum...just bruising there, but there is an incision beyond the scrotum on the penis in between the penis and scrotum...it's weird

When I do a neuter the incision is in between the scrotum and the base of the penis. Here is a pic below the flappy skin thing was the scrotum. *I know some vets cut the scrotum itself, so there is more then one way to do it. *It all depends on how the vet was taught and for me I think there is less swelling when the scrotum itself is not cut.

That pic is similar to Bo's, but it seems like his incision is a bit bigger

His testicle may have been bigger...the hole is cut to size to push the testicle through the skin to remove.

His testicles are gone, the area is just swollen and that is also why it is red.
