Default AHHH!!! Hives and Face Swelling

Its midnight my time and I am sitting here wishing I had Benedryl!! My 7 mth old puppy has obviously gotten into something when she was let out for her last pee. Now I have a dog that won't sit still, is COVERED in hives and her poor face is so swollen around her eyes and muzzle she can hardly see. I am just keeping a watch on her, checking that she can breathe alright. Of course I looked it up on the internet and several sites recommend Benydryl, which of course I don't have.

So tomorrow I am off to the pharmacy just incase there is another outbreak and I will be screening my property thoroughly! I wonder if this is a reaction to mushrooms as we have a few growing around. I pluck them every chance I get cause I know how toxic some can be to dogs....lets hope thats not what she got into!

Until tomorrow its a cold towel to relieve her constant scratching and minimal sleep for myself, at least until the swelling goes down. Good night everyone, sleep tight!

Awe, poor miserable puppy!! *I know how scary that is!!! *Rhett gets them and after my first bout, I now keep it on hand too!!! *I think we've narrowed his down to a pine allergy. *We stopped by family on the way home today and he just picked up some of the long needles and started chewing on them before I could catch him. *We have a small bout with them oursleves tonight. *Luckily I have none in my yard...

I'll take those vibes. Thank you so much. i don't think we have a Walgreens in Ontario. Plus I'm out in the boonies approx. 30 minutes from town and all our gas stations close at 11pm. Right now I wished I lived in the city. Well we are off to have a nice cool bath..hope this helps. Pine trees are a thought as I have nothing but pine on my property. This is something I am going to have to keep an eye on.

Hopefully she is alright. *If they have a severe reaction it can affect there breathing as their throat can close up. *I would drive the 30 miles with the dog in the car and get the Benadryl to be on the safe side. *I would use the liquid and get pills to keep on hand for future use.

I agree that having Benadryl is very important for these kind of things....also peroxide is another must have.....Hope things are better today!

There is a sticky topic about a doggie medicine kit, what to have on hand and dosages, I admit mine isn't totally stocked, but I couldn't live without Benadryl....Hoping she is feeling better this morning....

**UPDATE**
So, we were up until the wee hours, my poor itchy baby She didn't have her reaction before 11pm so all stores in a 30 min radius were closed. Trust me I was thinking of driving an hour into the city. After several cold baths and cold towels on her she calmed down enough to go to sleep, but woke up this morning still itchy and she only has hives on one side of her body. So I'm thinking she must have been laying on whatever she had the reaction to, also noticed that our other dog has about a dozen small hives on his back as well. So off I went to the pharmacy first thing this morning. Hoping the benydrl will kick in shortly.

Thanks so much to those who were concerned, it helped me a great deal.
