Default Canine Hives that have not gone away after 4 days

Baron has had hives since sunday and we cant seem to figure out the cause and how to make them go away. We have tried benedryl but it seems to be a temporary solution as they go down for a short period of time but not for good. We finally took her to the vet yesterday and they gave her a few shots and the hives went down. She did a full check up as well and said baron still remains perfectly healthy and the hives have not changed her personality at all. *But later that night they came back and even worse, all over her head and body now. Im getting very frusterated because it seems like not even the vet has a solution other than give her benedryl and barons body is covered from head to toe. We have been racking our brain to determine what this could be caused from but cant figure it out.

Any help or suggestions would be great. I feel awful for little baron...

Well first off you can go back and get some more shots, if she's covered you don't want to risk them getting in the way of her breathing. *Then I would give her a *cool* oatmeal shampoo bath, and then wash EVERYTHING in hot water in the house that she's been in contact with. * Oggie was covered in hives the other night, had to take him to the ER at 3 am because he was so covered and itchy that he could not stop pacing the entire house. *After some long thinking I believe he got poison ivy during our walk in the woods, it's rampant this time of year. *But any kind of allergen could still linger on furniture and blankets, they can even be allergic to types of grass. *Once you remove the allergen, the hives should stop. *Also think hard about any environmental or food changes, you have to try to figure out what caused it and then remove the source. * Sometimes it takes a day or two for them to really kick in so think back to what you have done differently since Friday-Saturday.

Could be food, laundry detergent, anything... *Have the people that pet and play with him changed anything, hand cream, perfume, etc. *Did he go anywhere new recently?

Sully, my vet told us that dogs won't get poison ivy, but that they will carry it on their fur and transport it to you and your furniture etc. *Don't know if the short coat doesn't protect boxers as well as others....

I have also heard dogs can't get poison ivy but after this hives incident I did some reading, and found that it can be absorbed through the lightly haired areas. *Boxers of course in general have short fur so I believe they are more susceptible to it than most dogs. *The only thing we did different was go on a walk in a new area and the place was packed with poison ivy. *It could also be a certain grass he was allergic to as well, but I narrowed it down to those two.

everything has remained the same. I even brought her to my parents house in attempt to remove her from whatever in my apt was bothering her but no luck

Maybe he was stung by a bee or bit by a spider or something. *I wouldn't think it would return though. *Something is reinfecting him. *Search the whole house, look for anything new you've bought in. *Have you walked him anywhere new? *Think think think. *Surely something in your life has changed in the past 4 days. * Like Cassisus said, perfumes or detergents can do it too. *You could ask the vet about doing an allergen test as well. *If he's covered again, my first step would be to go to the vet. *They can at least get rid of the hives again, you can continue with the benadryl, and then work on finding the source!

Do you use flea control on him? *Mateo had them sooo bad for weeks and it was due to an allergic reaction to flea bites. *We didn't have a bad flea problem but I did find a couple on him and that was the answer on that case of hives. *I put him on Frontline and that did the trick for that.

Kiah had them really bad last year and it seemed she got them when there was a lot of dew on the ground, don't know it something stuck to her when she was wet but when the dew stopped then she stopped the hives. *Strange that it hasn't happened this year.
