We took out boxer to the vet for a nail trim and ear mite diagnosis. He spent about 4 hours there and came home with this bump on his face. It has been there for seven days and has not gotten any smaller or larger. It is approximately 3/8" in diameter and is proud above the skin plane.
It does not seem to cause him any pain. His name is Rocco.

My girl had a bump similar to that on her ear recently. It was a histiocytoma - non-cancerous growth. From what I have been told by SharonL (our resident vet on the site) boxers are prone to these types of bumps especially when they are younger. They seem to "pop" up out of no where. If it is a histiocytoma it should remain the same size and stay pink in color. They tend to go away on there own in about a month or so. She told me I could try applying iodine to it a few times a day. My girl's bump got ulcerated and we decided to have it removed before it started an infection. Here is a link to my post in regards to her bump if you want to check it out. Sharon might be able to chime in with some more advice.

Okay let's see if this works...
http://www.boxerforums.com/modules.php? ... highlight= Here is the link I posted back in June when Damien had a similar bump on his ear that appeared out of no where. *We kept an eye on it and it went away on it's own in about 3 weeks or so - thanks to Sharon's info! *

Looks like a Hysteocytoma to me too, Newt had one on her neck but it was broken open when she was playing with the other dogs at the dog park..... it took like 2 months to go away, Id keep watching it and make sure it gets no bigger, usually for Hystio's... they go away on their own.
Good Luck to you and Rocco!! |
