I noticed the other day that Rowdy’s face looked a little red right around the muzzle and on his chin, where he seems to have the least amount of hair. I figured it was because of the weather, it was a little chilly for a few days. So I wanted to check and make sure it was just red and nothing else and I noticed he had what looked like to me a few, 5 or 6 pimples on his chin. Has anyone run across this one before? They are mostly his chin where his jowls hang over and a few right in the folds of his chin. I have been trying to keep it clean an applying Neosporin twice a day, he hates that part.
Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. kenny

What kind of bowls are you using? If you are not using stainless steel bowls, that could most likely be your problem....plastic bowls will harbor bacteria...and make their faces break out. I know with Bubba when we used plastic bowls, his face was a mess....but as soon as we started using stainless steel we have never had a problem ( knock on wood) ....with Dixie, i never even tried to use plastic. from day one we used Stainless steel... Good luck! Jessica |

One of my neighbors told me the same thing about plastic bowls so I have never used them. I was wondering if it was all the slobbering he does that might be the cause. It doesn’t seem to be bothering him, not until I try to put the Neosporin on. Thanks for the replies.

Jasmine occasionally gets them too. I've found that if I leave them alone they go away faster... when I mess w/ them and put Neosporin or Oxy Pads (the kind for people = read it on a previous post and tried it) they sometimes get more irritated and take longer to heal.

I had this with Raven when she was a pup. The vet told me it was a form of Impetago (sp?) and that it is not contagious to us. He told me to actually pop the pimples, clean the area and pat it dry. They usually come on puppies faces and sometimes genital areas. She got them quite a bit until she was around 6 mths and still gets one here or there once or twice a year.

I've read and been told ceramic bowls will do this also. China my pug had 2 pimples..on her chin, I switched bowls to stainless steel and they popped on their own (your not sopposed to pop them) and she hasn't had any since.
Yeap plastic as mentioned above ^^ holds bacteria and those are a big no no. If you use ceraminc you should wash after each meal in hot soapy water... |

Oddly enough Nikita had it in same area shortly after we got her spayed. We didn't touch it, went away on it's own.

Sorry I didn’t get back with a picture on this. I am not to bright when it comes to all this fancy stuff. My wife suggested that they might be fire ant bites, even though it is winter it doesn’t get that cold here in eastern Carolina to kill them, so there are a few nests still in the yard
Anyway, I tried keeping the bottom of Rowdy’s jaw clean and it looked like it was clearing up so I left it. Well I was looking Rowdy over earlier and I noticed that things were not looking all that much better since the last time I checked. Then I noticed a bigger bump closer to him lip. I finally got him to hold still long enough, with the help of my son to take a picture. I am wondering if it could be bacterial thing. Any ideas? Thanks for all the responses! ![]() kenny
