Urinating while laying down/sleeping?

I've been trying to be on here more and don't get much time right now. Odin's shaking has stopped... I did speak with vet and she said it sounded like epilepsy but it hasn't happened in what weeks now? Instead I have new problems. For the past week it was almost ever other night or few nights we'd start to lay down and our bed would be wet... sometimes a little, sometimes a lot. It's definitely not marking and he's been house trained for a WHILE now! It's like while he is laying down sleeping he is wetting the bed... not just the bed OUR BED! So I've been extremely frustrated cleaning and cleaning and sterilizing and more cleaning, did I mention cleaning!??!

At first we weren't a 100% sure what was going on or who was doing it but after we put thought into it we figured it out. I'll be calling the vet today for an appointment. He's not allowed on furniture anymore which is a pain to deal with all on it's own. Anyway, any thoughts... isn't incontinence a UTI or bladder infection or something like that? Didn't see it as a side affect caused by his prednisone... it's just weird. He's been fine no issues forever and now just all kinds of stuff is going on... it feels like anyway.

Marie, the Prednisone will make them pee more, so it's possible that is the cause, it also could be a UTI or even incontinence..Not sure if this will help but maybe try a tsp of fresh parsley daily mixed in with Odin's food, that's what Angel gets for her incontinence and it really does help a lot..As long as he is on the Pred, I would think that is probably what's going on, but once he is weaned off of it and it still happens, I would look to something else

I've never dealt with this problem before, but from reading posts here and reading about dogs and cats health in general, anytime an animal has an issue with urinating (a healthy, house broken dog) the first thing they check for is uti or bladder infection. It isn't uncommon. I don't know about the effects of different medication - if it's not an actual side effect, could something they are taking make them sleep so sound that they don't know they have to go and just go unawares? I'm sure the vet will have some advice for you.

Thanks... maybe I'll call the vet and talk to her about it first before I set up an appointment. That was the other thing is he is drinking water like crazy compared to how he use to. Forgot to add that in there. I did actually just by a huge container of parsley!! Will try that today I think. It's extremely hard to keep a dog of furniture he has been jumping up onto for over 2 yrs!!

Forgot to ask this, is Odin still on the Prednisone? I noticed with Flick it took about 10 days after he finished it before he quit trying to drink the well dry of water

Good luck with your vet and hope you get some good info to help out Odin. [-O<

Zulu has only wee'ed a few times while asleep, but i think he was in a real deep sleep and started running in his dreams and to the rythum of his legs moving he pee'ed like a sprinkler. . .i thought there was sopmething wrong with him, so i woke him and he started looking over himself like who did that. . .

I have had problems with Pred causing incontinence with some dogs. It is a possibility.

Gus is on prednisone, drinking gallons of water, peeing non-stop. There was some dribbling around the house for a couple days, and I did read that prednisone can cause some muscle weakness. I figured whatever muscle was supposed to be holding in the pee was no working well. Can you use a doggie diaper, with a big sani-pad for awhile? Hope things improve soon.
