jack has been developing some scabbed areas under his chin and the jawl area around his chin. he also has some bumps in the pink area under his nose.
i thought that maybe it was from not cleaning his bowls frequently enough. so i started washing them every day. they are stainless steel. i also have started washing his face and chin with soap every morning. but its not getting any better.
anyone have any idea whats causing it and what i can put on that area to help clear it up?

havent looked at the link yet.
i thought pimples at first too. but the bumps on his muzzle never get big and they never pop or scab over. there just slightly raised pink bumps.

the area under his chin never had any bumps that i can see. its just a scabed area that is spredding.

anyhow, i stopped by the vet just to ask. i didnt have jack with me. they said the bumps on his face could be pimples or a bacteria. and the place under his chin was most likely a bacteria or fungus.
they said not to use warm water under his chin as that will soften the scabs making it take longer to heal. they said i could use a medicated soap or any anti bacterial soap from the drug store on his nose area. and to use peroxide under his chin. 2x a day. and to clean his food dishes with the same anti bacterial soap or bleach.
i'm gonna try that for a while if it doesnt get any better i'll take him with me to the vet.

and on top of those problems he has started shaking his head alot. his ears dont smell or anything. but i've started cleaning his ears daily with one of 5 medicated solutions the vet has given me over the years for other dogs. been doing that for 3 days now its helping a lot.

i'll check out that link now.

Hmm...it sounds like a type of fungus or yeast on his chin. Oxy pads work very well. I'd use them to wipe his chin morning and night, just make sure they are not open otherwise it will burn.
I'm thinking a yeast issue just because you said he's started shaking his head now. Let us know how he does after the cleaning regimen. :)

well his ears cleared up after about 3 days of cleaning once a day. no more head shakes.

his chin area is looking a little better. though not completely cleared up. it has stopped progressing. i'm continuing the peroxide on the chin. i thought about using the ear cleaner on his chin. but wondered if it might burn. it has venigar and boric acid in it. he's such a good boy when im treating him, even holds his head back so i can do it. i dont want to put something on that might burn and make him dislike my treatments.

i cant tell any difference in the bumps on his muzzle under his nose. better or worse.

he also developed a couple of small bumps on his head between the ears. they scabed up. the scab fell off now theres just a couple little dots with no hair.

none of this seems to be bothering him (except the ears).
though the past couple of days his appitite has been off. only eating once a day instead of his normal 3. and this morning he threw up a little bile and spread slobber all over the carpet. probably because of an empty stomach. not to worried about him going off feed and throwing up as he has done this once or twice before. i can hear him just now eating his breakfast @ 12:30

Some dogs are allergic to stainless steal, mine was. Try switching to a ceramic bowl and see if that makes a difference... Some dogs are allergic to plastic too...we have all ceramic in the house and have no issues. :)

I''ve found Arbie gets this when he's been drinking loads of water or drooling and I don't dry off his face straight away. So I make sure I wipe him everytime I see water running down his jowels. The other bumps I have no idea about. Prayers You'll find a solution to Jacks problems soon! [-O<
