Hello all! This isnt exactly the way I wanted to be introduced to the forum, but it happens. Recently I have noticed that my 7 month old puppy Chuck has a dark spot on one of his testicles. I say just one because the other has not dropped yet (which may be a total different problem). He still appears to be acting perfectly normal. Is this something I should be worried about?
Sorry for the iphone picture, its all i got right now. ![]() And just for fun one of Chuck and his new roommate Liter, 2 yr old male Pitt.

Is it just dark color or is it a lump or a bump under the skin or does the skin itself feel different (just what you wanted to do - feel your boys testicle). If it's any of those things I would be concerned and consult the vet. If it's just skin discoloration I probably wouldn't be too worried, SuzyQ has spots all over her belly and underneath of varying sizes and colors. But it doesn't hurt to have it checked. I think I'd be concerned that his other testicle hasn't dropped yet. I've never had this problem with any of our male dogs in the past, but I seem to remember that by his age they should both be dropped. Some vets think that dogs with undescended testicles are more prone to certain kinds of cancer - so either way I'd let the vet check it out, if for nothing else your peace of mind.

I agree with SuzyQsmom.
My white has dark spots ALL over his body. One of the first spots to show up was on his left testicle sac. I say left because it took awhile before the right to drop and stay down. The spot on Shiro's testicle sac is the FIRST thing kids seem to notice on him. It your pup's spot has a texture or a thickness to it I would take him to the vet asap. Although I do not read about Mast Cell Cancer much on Boxer sites, it is a common cancer with them. Mast Cell cancers that first appeared on my first white, Jake, were on a toe and then in his empty testicle sac. Both were dark and hard. Both had to be removed. Regarding your pups undescended testicle . . . I did a lot of reading on this subject because Shiro's right testicle did not descend and stay down until he was about 14 weeks or so. You might find this site interesting and informative - Cryptorchidism and Undescended Testicles - all you need to know.

The spot is not raised above the skin. I guess I am just worried because he has no other spots on him at all. I will still continue to monitor it as he gets older.
Also thank you for the link about cryotorchidism. It says that it could take up to a year for larger breeds. Id like to wait it out before I make the decision to take him under the knife. |

My dog's testicle dropped (or is dropping, not sure what's going on to be honest) and his is starting to turn that color also. He is 8 months old. Our first boxer also had black coloring on his testicles. I wouldn't worry about it unless you feel it and it feels like a lump on the actual testicle. You could always ask your vet if you aren't sure, though.
