I've never gone to a tractor supply for rabies shots, but in NJ every town offers free rabies shots once a year. Each town usually sets their own date. I've never taken the dogs, but used to take my cats. The people administering the shots are always local vets who have volunteered their time. Not sure if that's how they are doing it in GA. Never had a problem up here though.

I believe that by GA law, only a veterinarian can administer a rabies vaccine. So it will be a vet, but you usually only get a very cursory exam before the shot....I don't know that I would even really count it as an exam. But if you are having your regular vet see the pet for other things (health exam, other shots, etc) and get an thorough exam at that time, then a discounted rabies might be a good deal.

Man our tractor supply shops suck... Not only do they not do this type of thing but they don't carry the decent dog food either... But if you are curious call them and ask who is giving the shots and what it includes... If it is a dvm then it would not hurt to drop by

We don't have a tractor supply around here.. But we do have a low cost clinic that offerers a $18 - 3 year rabies vaccine (or $15 for 1 year). You don't have to pay an exam fee. I took my yorkiepoo in the other day and had hers done. She just had her wellness check 2 months ago and I didn't want to give her the rabies early. The clinic was closer than going to our vet, and I was able to take care of her city tags at the same time. If its a vet doing the vaccine I would go for it

then only discount on vac's that there is around here in nova Scotia is the 10% off for having more than one done at a time... seeing that the tax is 15%... its not much of a deal. but the protection offered and peace of mind is worth the cost. I can't squeak the new AHA vet immunization standard out of our Canadian vets... I have one local state that the schedule was changing but they wouldn't know the full scope of the change until mid to late spring... So this summer we are crossing the border and going to a dvm office and getting the full unaltered scoop...
I know that it has something to do with the whole six month age... I'm just so ashamed that our DVM system uses the crutch for their salary...

I would do it. Its $15 for a rabies here too. Again, it has to be a vet doing the Rabies. So go for it.
