Default Sudden appearance of Red Bump on belly

Here's photos of a red lump we just discovered on K.O.'s belly this afternoon and it wasn't there yesterday. I'll try to get to the vet tomorrow but in the mean time, have you seen this before? Any ideas?

He threw up last night (unusual for him) but seems fine otherwise. The only thing I can think of is an allergic reaction to an insect bite or ringworm but he is on Frontline Plus.

Thanks!

Could be lots of causes.
Is it open/oozing? Is it raised or flat?
Itchy or bothersome to him?
I would clean it with hydrogen peroxide and then put on an antibacterial ointment, if it's not gone or healing within a week (or gets worse) then I would have it checked out by your vet.

Hi Gypsiemouse,

- Raised (it is a bump, like rounded)
- Not open or oozing.
- Not bothering him at all (its bothering me though)

I will clean it and put Neosporin on it.

Thanks!

Could be a histiocytoma - they are common in young boxers and most of them go away on their own.

What is a histiocytoma?

Today's condition after antibacterial soap and antibiotic cream application... no change in diameter but appears to be more raised in height.

Here you can see the height of the bump...

I am not an expert by any means, but I also thought it looked like a histiocytoma at first glance.

Anybody see a problem with starting a Tagamet / Benadryl treatment on K.O.?

I read the Bavaris's Boxers link in the T/B thread and it seems like it can't hurt and can only help. Or am I missing something?

Why give medications if not necessary. Remember the body needs to process that stuff and it can put the kidneys and liver into overdrive.

Go to your vet and get their opinion. If its a histio it might just disappear all on its own. If its something else then you can decided what treatment to take

I would never give medications in a what if situation.

That is not pretty looking at all. Have you taken him to vet yet? I am not trying to worry you but either its a nasty looking histio or something worse. I would bet it biopsied.
