My 16 month old female Boxer is not well. Suddenly today she has been lethargic and cannot stay awake. When she is awake, her inner eyelids are coveiring 1/3 of her eyes and she has an extraordinary amount of discharge from her eyes, and it is a little on the green side. She has eaten (very little) and drank water. She has went potty today, number one (4 times) and number two (3 times, semi-soft, nothing alarming, per se). Once when she laid down today she let out a tiny wimper. She seems to be shaking, but only a little, her breathing seems a little shallow, but these symptoms are something I wouldn't notice if the other symptoms weren't present. Her ears are back farther than normal, and her gums seem pale to me. She does show emotion, she was happy to see me my husband and I when we got home. She was fine at bedtime last night, I cannot imagine what could have occurred overnight, she sleeps in her kennel on Sunday nights, and she didn't tear her bed up--so I am almost sure she didn't eat anything. We live in North Pole, Alaska and the local Vet's Office are crooks, or I would have taken her already. Hoping that she is better in the morning. Any suggestions, or similar experiences out there?

I would say if she is lethargic and has a green discharge from her eyes she should see a Vet. Not much else I can offer for advice it could be so many different things and with a green discharge it sounds like an infection that she should get antibiotics for.

Let us know how she is! With the pale gums, it seems to always be a reason for concern if the gums turn pale. Its the same as humans being pasty or flushed.. means we are not feeling well! Poor girl, please take her to a vet to be seen. A crooked vet and a healthy dog is better than a sick dog and no vet care.

The pale gums and green discharge are huge red flags. I would take her straight to the vet like right now, RIGHT NOW.
I'm not familiar with how far the vet is from where you are staying but please wrap her up and drive to the vet. Call them and tell them what is going on with her and maybe you can do something to alleviate her discomfort on the ride over. Please keep us posted and good luck.

Pale gums can indicate multiple things. Anemia from a parasite infection? Not enough oxygen in the blood stream from a respritory infection? Hard telling, best to get her to the vet. Green from the eyes indicates an eye infection and the pup will need to be assessed by the vet to determine what type of infection, so the appropriate medications can be prescribed.
Shallow breathing and pale gums are major red flags that need to be treated ASAP. Do not delay with getting the dog seen.
