I figured since I had the camera out today I would also try to snap a pic of this thing that appeared on Octane's tummy. I'd say the first time we noticed it was in April... I know it was before we moved. My husband thought it was just a scab, but it's still there. It doesn't bleed but it's more red now than it was. I can't really say whether or not it's changed in size, since we initially wrote it off. The pics aren't that great, Octane doesn't like to roll over, so I laid on the floor to get them.
Anyone know what this might be? ![]() ![]()

Histiocytoma?
But not sure how common they are on abdomen. Have you put anything on it? Antibiotic cream like neosporin or cortizone cream? I would probably have it checked either way since it's been there since April. Smooches to Octane |

I've learned to not even venture any guesses. Some of the worst looking tumors turn out to be completely benign, and some of the most innocuous end up being the most deadly. Best to get it looked at and removed if necessary.

It's not scabby or weeping in any way. It's quite firm, but smooth. I read that histiocytomas like to appear on the extremities and face, whereas sarcoma prefers the trunk... hence my mini-panic attack at present.

And yes, Octane particularly likes to grow things. I think we've been to the vet 3 or 4 times to look at his new additions. So far so good, but the colour of this one is unnerving. It almost looks "thready" if that's a word.
