Hello! Long time no post. Been very busy with work, and my mommy is very sick
Anywho, I needed some advice... Lately Zeus has been shedding like crazy!! Is this normal?? Any suggestions on getting a control of it? Besides the shedding, the Sunday before last Zeus had an accident. (The shedding started before this) anywho my girlfriend (mommy #2) let him out to go pee and when he came back in , he went into his kennel and she noticed he was bleeding everywhere.. The source of the blood was from Zeus's toe nail. He somehow ripped his toenail completely off... We rushed to the vet and they gave him some antibiotics and a cone for a couple days to avoid infection. He is doing great and is such a strong boy!! His little butt was wiggling at the vet until the cone went on! He is doing well and his last set of antibiotics is tomorrow. Oh! P.S. 6 months and a whopping 45 pounds!!! ![]() ![]() ![]() Sent from my iPhone using Petguide.com Free App |

The shedding could be from the food he is on (mine shed more on fish based formulas- so I don't feed those anymore). What food is he on and how long have you been feeding it?
Hope everyone in the house is feeling better soon. |

Yea, I agree, some foods make Dempsey shed, too. I found that Wellness Core Ocean caused a shed-fest! On the other hand TOTW Pacific Stream is okay. Go figure. Earthborn Meadow Feast (lamb) is working so far, too.
Do you give him a fish oil capsule daily? That may help, too. |

I for one can say food made a big difference with the shedding at our place.
I have a German shepherd, they are also referred to as German Shedders, they shed constantly. About 6 months ago and changed them all to a grain free food...... OMG what a difference. No more hair balls all over .Made a big difference for Chelsea also - a lot less gas and hardly anymore eye boogers.

Stanley used to shed a lot when I was feeding him dog food. Ever since we switched him to raw, his coat is a lot more shiny and no shedding! Like magic

Zeus is currently eating blue buffalo basics turkey and potato. He has been on it a couple months now and the shedding just started about a week or so ago. He does get grain free salmon treats and a little sprinkle of fish oil stuff on his food.
