Default Concerned About Lucy

Lucy has been acting strangely lately. She whines a lot. Its hard to explain. It startedwith her whining about her toys. She will walk around with a toy and cry. Then she refused to eat her food. She would drink. She doesn't vomit or have diarrhea which is good. Its more her actions. She is very Velcro dog like too. Tonight I mixed some wet food with her dry and she ate more which made me feel a little better. She will play, but sometimes she seems to sleep more than usual. Should I call the vet or see if she. improves. This is very confusing . Maybe I need to get her outside more . I just wish I could explain better what she does. I guess I'm just a worried mommy

Is she bored? My guys will pick up toys and let out this very low toned whine as they walk around. Its a sign that I need to get my butt outside and stimulate those brains of theirs. Give that a try, if you dont see any improvement I would take her into the vet for a check up.

*edit* You say she has lost appetite? Is she spayed or intact?

Get her out & moving to see if that is the problem. I know my girls will whine at us (more since it's cooled off) and we know it's time to leash them up to go for a walk or go outside & toss the football. Pheona claimed my boys football & it's so funny to watch her prance around with a football in her mouth. LOL

Last night after work Tucker and I played Jolly Ball for about 45 minutes and then went for a 3.5 mile walk. He then got his nightly home stuffed frozen chew bone which kept him busy for another 30 minutes or so.

After that he would select a toy and throw it on the floor and whine. I got on the floor but he wouldn't play. We did the same with a couple more toys and I gave up.

After that he would just stand in front of me with a toy and cry. He finally just went to bed.

He wants something really bad but I have no idea what it is. He has been like that every evening for about a week.

Full moon? Missing nice weather? I don't know.

Lucy isn't fixed yet. We plan on it soon. She still not eating like usual, but has eaten some. I took her out today on a long lead. She did her "boxer burns. " and acted playful and silly. We did some sit and stay commands. Tonight she is tired out. Has anyone had their boxer. decide they don't like their kibble? Lucy does drink and still no vomiting or diarrhea. I have also fed her some sweet potatoes which she ate.

When I first read your post I immediately thought she was A) Pregnant or B) going through a false pregnancy. She is acting like all PG girls do when they are about to go into labor.

I would also be concerned that she might have pyometra and personally I would take her into the vet to be checked.

Would she have any discharge? Would she be in pain? We haven't noticed anything different in that area. My husband was wondering if she might have a bad tooth because she will eat soft food but not kibble. What other signs should we look for? I will call and talk with the vet if she is the same tomorrow

There are two types of Pyo, open and closed. Open would have discharge, closed does not. If you have a thermometer I would take her temp (rectally) to make sure she doesnt have a fever. Anything between 100-102.5F is normal, anything above that implies infection.

We don't have a thermometer. Any other signs of a fever? I read some about pyometra and it worries me. She doesn't drink or urinate more than usual. In spite of whining she acts playful and happy. In fact she hasn't whined today. I'm really trying not to panic..sorry I'm just a worrier.

Is her tummy distended at all? Usually with closed pyo they become lethargic very quickly and have a distended tummy. When was her last heat cycle? If it was a couple months ago then she might be having a false pregnancy instead, are her nipples big? Does she have any milk?
