My 6 month old Roxie was running around the garden having her crazy 5 mins and when I opened the back door to let her in she's got blood dripping I realised its from the tip of her ear and a little scratch on her head, :-( what shes done is in her crazy 5 mins she's ran into the rose bush n cut herself she didnt cry n not worried by it at all but I never seen my girl bleed before and it quite upset me I suppose I'm just looking for reassurance n advice, iv obviously washed with sterile water and salt and lots of TLC! Everytime she moves ear or shakes tho it starts again....

Oh! Poor baby! Have you applied pressure to the cut to see if you can get it to stop bleeding? Are you able to tell how deep the cut is? Is it possible it needs stiches? Hugs for your baby! I hope she recovers from her rose bush incident soon.

Ear wounds do bleed a lot.
Maggie nipped the tip of Mongo's ear once out in the yard and then of course Mongo had shaken his head. It didn't seem to hurt him (don't even think he noticed, honestly) but when I let them in Mongo was covered in blood (blood shows up really nice on a white dog) and it took a while to find the source. It was a tiny nick on the tip of his ear. He had to wear a band aid for a few days. I found that the ones designed for human knuckles (shaped like the letter H ) stayed on best. |

Oh my goodness, finally someone went through what I go through almost twice a year or more. I'm sorry, it sucks. My room looks like a crime scene, if NCIS comes to visit they will handcuff me, all because Rosco got a teeny booboo at the end of his ear and shakes his head a hundred times and splatters blood all over the walls! Lol I tried the bandaging the ear to the head thing, I've tried liquid bandaid, I tried it all, the thing the worked the best for us was
![]() This bandaid with neosporin plain kind, and if he was a super shaker one say I would attempt to tie a bandana around his head/ear but it would usually fall down. Good luck and don't worry it will heal soon, one time Rosco's cut didn't heal up for over a month, it would come close then he would go out in the rain or something...shake his head and it would open back up. But I think Rosco just has bad luck. Lol. And we were at work a lot so we couldn't keep an eye on him! 0_o Sent from my iPhone using Petguide.com Free App

Sally did this once, I had blood splatter inside and outside the house, it took me months to find all the spots....
Hers didn't take long to heal, I pinched her ear for a few moments, then quicly took her in to eat (cause she doesn't runa round crazy while doing that) and pinched her ear while she ate, then settled her on my lap after she finished eating and kept pinching it while she went to sleep. 20 minutes later it was all good, but I was careful not to let her shake too much for a few days. Mum said her pointer would shake so hard that with no injury her ear would start bleeding (just blood pressure) |
