His markings are beautiful.

With the leg issue, if I had to guess, by looking at the picture of him climbing the baby gate there, I'd say he may have bruised either some toes or even wrenched a leg a bit on the decent from the top of the gate

If he really is peeing every 5 minutes, and its not just that you " feel" like its this often, coupled with the apparently favoring of the back leg, I'd be inclined to have him checked for a UTI or bladder infection.

If you move his leg around does it bother him any? How about rubbing the bottom of his feet and between his toes, does that bother him? Any discomfort from him when you apply a small bit of pressure to his hips? If the answer to all of these questions is no and he's still holding up that leg and really peeing that often, I'd call the vet just to be on the safe side.

As for crate training, I agree, he is in the perfect age range if you want to teach him. If you'd rather just continue to confine him to an area when you have to be doing something else, get a walk through child gate with vertical bars only and having no horizontal bars or wires. We use one at the bottom of our staircase and knock wood, I've never had a dog or pup be able to climb it. We bought ours at Walmart.

Here's a picture of what I mean

See, nothing for them to put their feet on.

Good luck with your very gorgeous baby boy. Looks like you may have your work cut out for you!

Thanks for all the helpful replies. I really hope it is his little wiggle walk. I've moved his leg around and put pressure on it and looked and pressed between his toes and all he does lick my face lol. As for the child gate idea. That's perfect I am going to crate train him and think I'll start tonight. I just wanted something else to keep him in the kitchen when I can't supervise him. Loving this forum.

welcome to the Forum! He is abosolutely adorable! I started Crate training Zeus the moment I got him at 8 weeks. He was NOT a happy camper! I jsut stuck with it and Zeus knows exactly when it is time to go into his crate and lately at night he has been getting off the bed to go sleep in his crate. Hes growing up so quickly!

As for the peeing... I had to take Zeus out every 15-20 minutes and right after meals, naps, and playtime... now my big boy knows when I say. "lets go potty" he bolts to the door.

Your pup is adorable and this forum is so helpful , i am too a first time boxer owner and the people on here have truly helped me when I was in a state of panic, just worried, or wanted to brag about my main man.

Thanks so much for the welcome. How old is Zeus? I'm definitely going to start crating him tonight. It's going to be hard but I know it has to be done. Wish me luck

I guess the most important thing to remember is to make his crate a warm, cozy, safe place - never use it as a form of punishment. Put some blankets in there, some toys and maybe even feed him in there. Hopefully you won't have too much of an issue with it. Good luck!

Frankie is beautiful!
Good luck, when you have an escape artist they never seem to change, there are people here who require locks on their pup's crate because they have worked out how to open them!
I am also a first time boxer owner (first dog actually) and I am so in love with my wigglebutt, even if she is a willfull brat at times. the eyes and long tongue get me every time.

Oh my. My heart just melted seeing him. He is such a CUTE little guy!

Boxers are way too smart for their own good. It makes me have more appreciation for them though.

Good luck with the crate and potty training! Just remember. Consistency is key. And praise. I learned very quickly with Maggie that boxers do not respond to negative reinforcement.
