Hey all,
So last night we were at a friend's house (Bosley's boxer buddy Bear); We were out in the shop while the dogs were in the house. When we went to leave, I had Bos outside and he was acting like he wanted to puke. He was eating the snow but I just assumed it was because he was hot from playing and their water bowl was empty. Anyways, we drove home and he seems fine.. Had some more water when we got home and went to bed. I wake up to him gagging at 3:30 in the morning. Nothing is coming up. He's just gagging and licking his lips. I mamanged to calm him down and he went back to sleep with no issues until about 8 this morning. Fed him his breakfast and he had no issues eating. Went for a quick pee (no BM because it's minus 11 celcius here this morning) and came back in. I go to leave for work, he pukes up about half of what he ate for breakfast and is shaking like a leaf. Now, whenever he gets stressed at all he shakes, so I don't know if it's a symptom of him just being stressed or if its something else going on. I'm going to check on him on my lunch in a couple of hours. I'm just super paranoid that its something like bloat... What should I do!

hmmm I wonder if he ate something while at Bear's house - perhaps a small toy or whatever they can get into. Yeah I would definitely keep an eye on Bos and call the vet today

I just tried calling the vet but was put on hold. There is an e-vet here in town so worst case scenario I can take him in there. They are open 24hrs. |

Did he have anything to eat at your friend's house that he's not used to? Food? Treats? etc? Any missing toys or toy parts?
Did you check the color of his gums? Is his stomach hard or distended? It doesn't really sound like bloat to me, but here's a link for you: Dog Bloat: Symptoms, Causes, Treatments Has he calmed back down since getting ill? . |

Oh no. I hope that Bosley is okay. I was thinking the same that him & Bear got into something. I don't know, maybe you should get him into the vet just to be on the safe side. Hopefully when you go on lunch he'll be feeling better. Keep us posted.

No, they were sleeping when I came in. All cuddled together on the bed. Our friends kids were in the house (they are 14, 16 and 17). They were watching them; so I don't know for sure that they didn't get into anything but the chances are very small.
I know that they play hard and are constantly drinking water so that's why bloat popped into my head. He's not himself and you can tell. He ate fine; he was driking fine. His gums and nice and pink. He doesn't have an extended abdomen and isn't roaching but he's quite gurguly and is burping alot...and he's shivering. I managed to calm him down before I left for work, but he was still shivering slightly when I left. I'm going home at 1pm this afternoon to check on him. If he's any worse I'll just take him directly to the E-vet. |

You can give him some Gas-X and see if that helps. I think he either ate something or was stressed and nauseated. Hope he is ok.
Here is a link. Scroll down to Gas-X (simethicone): http://www.walkervalleyvet.com/otc-meds.htm Last edited by Roccosmom; 12-11-2012 at 11:15 AM. |

Oh Val I'm sure it's hard to be at work away from him, hopefully it is something simple and will pass(no pun intended). Please keep us posted!
