I agree with you 100%!!! When we first rescued Achilles we got him late on a Monday night. The next day at work, he was all I talked about. By Friday, we got the bad news about the MCT and then my conversations have since been about his surgeries and recovery. People without beloved pets offer some sad advice....one co-worker said " He's a dog! I wouldn't pay a dime for surgery. Leave him at the vet and explain that your generosity has worn out." I think my facial reaction explained my thoughts about that comment without having to say a thing!

So FINALLY the vet called me right when i pulled up to my house from work. She told me the results have came in on Bolts Biopsy. She said there were 0 tumor cells and not cancer. Phew! Thank You Doggie God!
She told me it was a bad infection from trama to the neck, either something he ran into or something that got lodged into his mouth or neck. She said she was glad we did get it out when we did because it could have turned into something bad and with him being on antibiotics should resolve any other infection. So that is a good sign. Now I am worried because i read how dogs can produce Blood Clots after surgery. Its been 2 weeks now. Every new and than throughout the day he has weird coughing like his throat is scratchy, kinda like a hoarse cough (he did it once today, right when i was packing up my stuff to leave, he usually does it right when he gets really excited). Than tonight he was laying down and all of a sudden started breathing in and out heavy and making a loud reverse snorting noise and his whole body was making the motion, i was sitting next to him trying to calm him down, i didn't know what the hell to do. My Boston Terrier does it alot. Looks like an asthma attack. He has never done this before though. Why is he doing this? I'm going to the vet in the morning to have the incision checked and possibly the sutures removed because it will be 14 days tomorrow, i'm nervous for tonight. I read so many horror stories about blood clots and the dog having problems breathing, than throws up and dies, but alot of them happened hours after surgery, he is 2 weeks out. What are your thoughts? I want this to heal good and he have no complications. If something happens it's going to be all my fault because i'm the stupid one that wanted it out, but if he gets a blood clot I will never forgive myself. I tried looking up if dogs can get blood clots in the veins weeks after surgery and I can't really find anything. His neck veins are pulsing in a out pretty hard, I don't know if this is due to the blood getting flow to the injured area or what.

The biopsy report is awesome news.
The reverse sneezing is nothing to worry about unless he starts coughing alot and then perhaps he has Kennel Cough. When Rocco does this I either rub his neck, give him some honey or blow on his nose. The blowing causes him to swallow which relieves the spasm. |

great news on the biopsy and clots usually form with in the first day after surgery and are not usually an issue after day 3 so I wouldnt stress about him getting one at this point

So after I talked to my vet lastnight i told her how the incision was still open in the middle of it small and some chunks have came out. she said its normal but bring him in to get it checked. she told me she wouldn't be there today but another vet will look at it. So i went in. The vet came in the room, looked at it and i told him there were 2 chunks of brown stuff that came out and i took them and put them in plastic wrap and showed it to him. he felt around the incision and it was really hard under the incision, pretty big too, almost like a hotdog bun you can't see it, only feel it. He said it could be inflamation, infection or scar tissue. He took the sutures out and only the sides were healed so the middle part was open, another brown nasty thing came out. i told him "see look thats what came out this morning". he picked it up with tissue and told me he was going to go look at it under a microscope. They also took bolt back to look at the incision better. He came back and told me it could be scar tissue or skin, and he said was the area flat after surgery and i told him NO, it was very very swollen, i told him it actually looks alot better now compared to what it did look like (this is why i hate seeing a different vet but my vet told me she wouldn't be in that day) so he said it could just be inflammation but he wanted to make sure it wasn't an infection, so he gave me more antiobiotics (Clavamox), 10 more days worth and gave me some solution to squirt into the incision area to flush out any bacteria. The solution is called Chlorhexidine. It says to flush out 2 times a day. He told me the incision area should close up in 2-3 days and if it doesn't to come back. He told me anything that I think isn't normal to bring him in.
I don't know what to think anymore. I'm so confused. What are ya'lls thoughts on this? I'm sad, maybe i shouldn't have got that stupid knot thing taken out. He seems so sad now, he's sleeping on his newly washed bed right now and i have a papertowl under his head because theres some pinkish watery liquid coming out, i think from the solution he squirted in there. He told me when he flushed it no more chunks came out so that was good. Do you think they were clots? It looks like a miniature sized liver. I took a picture of the one that came out this morning. I'm totally wigging out again. Why is there a hard long mass up behind his incision area?! it's not directly at the incision, its like up in his neck. Could i be dealing with Wound Dehiscence? Or a Seroma? The wound area doesn't smell at all. I think it looks pretty good besides the brown snot chunks coming out and the hole. Do you think it's from his activity after surgery. I read they can't have alot of activity which i tried to keep him mellow, but you know boxers, its so hard to keep them calm. The vet i saw today just totally freaked me out. Ugh Here is what came out this morning and pics from the past 2 days. yesterday the incision looked great, than this morning 2 clumps came out and when i went to the vet i just get more depressed because they said it should be closed. ugh: http://i49.tinypic.com/289j0ch.jpg
