Hello everyone....i know its been a while.....quick question for anyone who has experienced this....mylo was fixed last friday....he came out of surgery ok and seemed okay that day well the next day not so much! Ever since his surgery he shakes his head uncontrollably. I called the vet and he says to stop the pain killers and remove the collar for awhile that is could be him coming off the anthesia....well we did that and almost a week later he is still doing this. He does it about 3x a day. His head shakes like he is saying NO....and we cant stop it. I am taking him back today since he had an appt for his follow up tomorrow. This is not normal.....any ideas?

Its called an Idiopathic Head Tremor, idiopathic means cause unknown.
My very first boxer Thea started with these when she was 6 mths old, she had them a couple times per month. You are correct in it looks like she is nodding her head No. We found they became most frequent when she was over excited or stressed. They lasted maybe up to 3-4 minutes long. If you google Boxer Head Tremors you will see many videos on Youtube. They are actually quite common and harmless. Theas went away for several years and then returned when she was about 10 yrs old. The best thing you can do is stay calm and keep them quiet. The anesthesia was probably the trigger.

Thank you!!! He only does it when he is sleeping or laying on the couch relaxing! I did google it but couldnt understand why it started now when it never happened prior. He doesnt seemed stressed if anything I am stressed when it happens. His happen 3 - 4 times per day and couple of times at night.....safe to say it might go away then?

It sounds like it started from his anesthesia. Fingers crossed they will reduce with a bit of time.
