I didn't want to hijack Molly's thread...
Duke threw up at 5 am on Monday morning. There was kibble in his puke and we still can't figure out why he vomited? He was fine all day yesterday and last night. I'm hoping he won't throw up today either. I'm messaging the girl that walks him around noon to check up on him. We have started transitioning him to Blue Buffalo Freedom puppy food. Could that be why? |

How slowly are you transitioning him. Maybe the Freedom isn't agreeing with him? I hope Duke had a one time incident. Maybe he ate too fast. Porter eats super fast but since when he vomits it is about 8-10 hours AFTER eating, I don't think that is what it is with him. I am assuming at 5 am Duke hadn't eaten already?

We did 1/5 new food (BB Freedom puppy) and 4/5 old food (Fromm grain-free) for the first 2 days - Sun and Mon. Today and tomorrow we will do 2/5 new food and 3/5 old food.
His stool is perfect and he's acting normal - playing and happy. He's eating well, although maybe a bit too fast. He had his dinner at 5:30 pm and threw up at 5 am. This was over 12 hours later... I almost thought it might be hunger pukes but there was food in the vomit. He's getting 2 cups in the morning and 2 in the evening. The only other thing I can think of is that the Fromm grain-free that we had him on is an all stages food, not puppy food. The BB Freedom puppy is obviously puppy food and I would imagine it's richer in fat and protein (although I didn't actually check the labels to compare). Maybe that's the problem? I hope it's not the new food... I've heard such good things about BB and it's more affordable than the Fromm. |

Oh and to add to the confusion he got a treat bone from a neghbour with bacon flavoured filling on Saturday and I bought him a new chew bone (chicken flavoured) that he was chewing on most of Sunday night (Nylabone). When he was younger we found the flavoured Nylabones gave him the runs but I wanted to try again now that he's older. Maybe this time it made him puke? Anyhow, we took away both of th chew bones and he was ok yesterday. We'll see!

Hi Susy, I'm taking Porter into the vet tonite at 5. The vet thinks that he is eating too fast. I said but throwing up 8-10 hours later...she said it could be. Anyway, my husband said that he noticed Porter scraching his ears this am and that he looked and say lots of red...so I figure...2 birds...1 stick. I hope that Duke's vomiting was just an anomoly. I am betting the bacon bone is the culpret.
