Gunner is our 3 month old puppy, he is amazing. But unfortunately he had a little accident last night.... He was coming in from last walk and was being his usual excited self and he hit his right shoulder on a column in our building. Needless to say, after a long night at vet and worrying about our little guy, he has a minor shoulder displacement and minor hairline fracture on shoulder. Gunner now has a splint/cast on his right leg and shoulder for next 2-3 weeks
My problem is the following, he is so nervous and scared I can't get him to go to the bathroom, granted i am probably over worrying ( I hate seeing him like this..breaking my heart) and its only been 12 hours. Is there anything I can do to make him more comfortable about 'doing his business'? Any advice would be greatly appreciated. |

Poor guy! When my guy was a pup he was always running too fast into stuff and hurting himself, it was sad to watch him have a cast at such a young age! As for your guy, give him a lot of good boys, let him know it's okay, I'm sure he'll go whenever it's not possible for him to hold it anymore, so keep him confined somewhere you don't mind cleaning up an accident. If he's eating and drinking it'll come out one way or another! Good luck!

I would also take treats outside and treat him every time he goes potty. He'll soon forget all about the cast and start looking forward to his next treat.

aww poor baby, yes like Cait has advised; give lots of praise and treats and he'll eventually look forward to doing his 'business'. He'll be bouncing in no time

Agree with above, hope he gets better soon. I ways wondered if it was possible for them to hurt themselves like that bc they're just so clumsy running into people, tables, walls, non moving vehicles, everything!
