No you can't use a seed spreader. DE is a very fine powder. I use an empty (washed and dried) 32 ounce yogurt container - I poke holes in the lid and literally walk back and forth shaking the container until I've covered the whole yard.

I do an area that's about 50 x 60 (best guess on the size of my back yard ) I don't repeat after every rain. I bought a 10 pound container of DE about 4 years ago and still have a little bit left. I usually do my yard about 3 times for the season.

Use it sparingly on your dog (don't get in the eyes)- it can dry the skin. It makes your skin feel like you've been working with sheetrock.

There is a product called Wondercide that is made with essential oils that you can use as a daily spray if needed on your dog. (don't get it in the eyes) You can get it on Amazon.

I think I'd love to try the D Earth, but it sounds like it would take quite a while to apply correctly. I don't have a huge back yard but I'd guess it measures about 80 by 70 or so. I just had a fence installed so I have an idea based on the amount of fencing used. I'll take a look at that Wondercide you mentioned. This may be stupid but there's no type of natural prevention that can be applied to the dog roughly every month similar to the "pesticide" drops? It seems most natural methods need to be applied much more often.[/QUOTE]

Do not breathe de in. Don't let your dog either. I add to my dogs food as a parasite prevention. Especially when they drink out of streams, creeks, etc.

Back to the ACV, what percentage ACV to water do you use? 70%water, 30% ACV? 50/50? I think I'm definitely leaning towards giving this a try. I may also give beneficial nematodes a try too, to limit the number of fleas from the start.
