Default telling the difference between a boxer puppy and a pit puppy

my friend found a 4 week old pup. *I am not sure how to tell the differance between a pit puppy and a boxer. *He looks boxer to me but I know they are very simular.
I had someone tell me the only way to tell is their toung. *That the pits toung is huge and will fil their whole mouth. *Any advise would be appreciated.

pits and boxers dont look alike really and its easy to tell them apart if you know the breed. post a picture and im pretty sure everyone here would be able to give an opinion. If you really are familiar with both breeds and cant tell then perhaps you have a mix pup? usually pits are shorter and wider they also have wider heads but that is as they grow. Post a pic if possible.

open its mouth...does the jaw looks like its taking up half its mouth? looks swollen on both sides in back...also the snout it straighter and longer...pit pups are very distinct looking..in certain ways even young

Petey used to get mistaken for a Pitbull all the time. At some ages, I could see where anyone who really doesnt know the breed would be likely to make that mistake, especially with a white boxer. Last week one of our neighbors asked if Petey is a pit, she swore he looked like one. I told her to imagine him with fawn fur and a black mask. She was like "oh, I see it now!!!" Didnt bother me though. Pits are wonderful animals

I wouldn't have been able to answer that question a year ago, but after joining this forum, and interaction with my sis' doggies, I can now. Pix please, when you can. BTW, I saw a beautiful adult Pit female that had the most gorgeous brindle coloring. She followed me up to my car and sat there like, "Can I come with you?" So sweet. Got me a little doggie lovin'!!

Load the pics onto Photobucket. *You have to have photobucket and boxer forums open at the same time. *Click the IMG button under your pic in photo bucket, then come into the forums page, right click, paste. *The image will automatically come up when you hit submit. *Hope that helps.
