Default 15 Week Pupdate

Talos turned 15 weeks old yesterday. His last visit to the vet a few weeks ago had him at just over 20 pounds. He's growing like a weed. He can now get himself up on the couch. We're still working on no biting. It's worse when he's overly excited or in need of a nap. We just finished our first 6 week puppy class. We're really good at sit, down, look at me, paw, and up. We're working on wait, drop it, leave it and stay.

We are finally going to work on weening him off the icky kibble that the breeder had him on when we got him. We've noticed some issues with his bowels and the vet is going to check for parasites. We also think he just needs better food in general. I know a lot of folks here are all about raw feeding. It's out of the realm of what I can do for my pup. So we're going to go with a high end kibble. I know.. I know.. not great BUT it's better than purina puppy chow.

His favorite toy is his squeeky pig and he still needs cuddles every morning and night before and after crate time (okay maybe HE doesn't need it but it's part of mommy and puppy routine and we like it)

We sleep in the crate at night with no issues and are starting to enjoy spending time in our crate throughout the day now that we have a comfy bed in there.

His best friend is an 11 year old lab who really could care less about him. Talos however will sit in the yard and watch Murphy's house just in hopes to see him. Sometimes Murphy's dad will bring him over just so Talos can say hi and Murphy with his bad joints and all tries the best he can to be playful with him.

Aww, so glad Talos is doing so well. They are silly wonderful dogs, especially when you put that effort in their training. Good job!

What a great pupdate!

Once you have ruled out parasites, pick a food that fits your budget and transition him slowly.... meaning only 25% new food to old food per week until her is fully switched over. The transition should take you 3-4 weeks to properly do.

Thanks Kaco! We're going with taste of the wild high prairie puppy food. It fits our budget, main ingredients are bison and lamb, 28% crude protein. We'll be checking for parasites today but I've also started the transition. Starting it very slowly maybe 1/4 per one cup or less. He seems pretty excited about food time and I've already seen some slight improvements. So I'm crossing my fingers.

Hi
My puppy Aengus just had his 18 week old and last puppy shot. He is weighing in at 28 pounds. I am curious do boxers have wrinkles on their forhead? He is my fourth boxer but first male and none of my others had/have wrinkles. Also due to his color i am thinking a Shar pei was introduced farther back in the line. He is black and white not reverse brindle and i see no brindling in the sun. I understand that boxers do not have the black gene but had already put a deposit on him when i found that out. As i don't breed or show i love him anyway and got him.

He's so cute!! As for the wrinkle forehead it's very much a thing. You're guy looks boxer but I don't know much about the reverse brindle etc.. I've added a new picture so you can see our wrinkle head.
