We recently purchased a boxer puppy on June 23 , 2010. The breeder that we thought was reputable that has been breeding for 7 plus years was not who we thought she was. The puppies were done very wrong. It was as if she didn't even care about them and that she just needed the money.Jax was 2 lbs the day we got him today 5 days later he is 3 lbs. We are worried about him wondering the effect this may have on him down the road. He is doing much better now that he is in a good home and is getting fed the way a puppy should be. The breeder was only feeding him 2x a day, they were living outside on a concrete slad inside a fenced kennel in the hot weather with the heat index being as hot as 105 degrees. The first trip to the vet did not go well. The vet found a fly larvae that was embedded in the little guys neck that had to be cut out, he was malnourished and he had cocciditis. He is being treated with antibiotics. He is growing and acts in every way the way a puppy should act. We noticed yesterday that he was walking with his front right paw turned outward. Has anyone ever heard of this? Could it be that he is gaining weight now , that he is just learning how to walk or maybe that he just has to grow into his paws? I also just read about elbow dysplasia. Has anyone ever heard of that? Even though he is not the perfect AKC Boxer we don't care. All we want is for him to be healthy and happy. I also think that the breeder may have lied to us about his age and that he may be 5 weeks instead of 6. On his AKC papers it has him 6 days older than what she really told us. We know that the AKC papers are not right because we did not start talking to her until the 10th and the puppies were not born at that time but she has the 8 th on the AKC papers. Also on the 26th of May there eyes were still closed. I guess I just have a lot of questions and i'm not getting the answers from her. We had the 24 hr guarantee on him where we could take him back but that was not an option for us because we like the little guy and were not going to put him back in that environment. We still have the 1 year guarantee on him with a signed contract. Does anyone know what we can do to make sure that this doesnt happen to anyone else or does anyone know what we can do so that the breeder can be investigated? To me this is animal cruelty and this breeder needs to be stopped. We are in hopes that it is all going to work out for Jax and that he continues to gain weight and thrive but we are extrememy worried about how small he is. If you have any suggestions please let me know. Thank you for reading this and sorry that it as so long.

I would report this to your vet!!!! Sometimes they can do something about shady breeders. At least my vet does and I mean he calls and threatens them!!! I feel sorry for these pups. That woman needs ran out of business and fast. She is an animal abuser, not a breeder! I'm sure others will also have an opinion for you. Good luck with your puppy. Thank God he's with you and not her!!!

5-6 weeks is way too early to sell pups and feeding him twice a day...at this stage its still mom`s job damn it!
Inward/outward paws are called easty/westy and is not a problem at all;look it up on google it can be corercted rather easily....if it is that. Good luck! pictures!

As for the breeder, i would report them to your locoal human society or animal shelter. Then for the paw, my boxer had bowed legs when we got her and after time they straigtened out after a while, his paw will also. To get him to gain weight i would feed him good food and add in some ground beef.

My little girls left paw turned outward and has now corrected itself...the vet said that the ligaments are still growning and will get stronger with daily exercise...we exercise her daily. Poor little puppy, thatnk GOD you got him and can now help him to grow into the wonderful Boxer he is meant to be. That so called "breeder" needs to be put out of business and fast...shame on her for doing that to those helpless little babies!!! Good luck to you, keep us posted on Jax!
