Hi,
Slightly concerned. Murphy has now had diarrhea for 5 days now. This has ranged from pudding like stools to really watery brown and sometimes with green mucas in. He seems absolutely fine, energetic and drinking. He is not eating his food as well as he has been. We changed his food last week from royal canin puppy junior to skinners field and trial puppy food (wheat and gluten free). We feed him the kibble with a natural meat diet (nature diet puppy). I am hoping this is just due to his change in food but will take him to the vets tomorrow as it has not cleared up. My biggest worry is dehydration at this moment. |

Try some canned pure pumpkin (not the kind with the extra spices for pie). My Murphy had a bout of diarrhea a while back & the pumpkin seemed to help her out. She was 20 pounds then so I was giving her 2.5 tablespoons through out the day. I mixed it in with her kibble but she'd eat it right off the plate too. Hope your able to get him into the vets this week & hope she's feeling better soon.

Did you switch the food immediately or did you slowly make the switch?? That can make a huge differnce in how they're tummies handle a food change. How much protien is in his diet? Have you tried giving him a pepto or an immodium? Some people recommend Kaopectate(sp?) but it has never worked for my two. I'd recommend a vet too if it doesn't clear up.

Ah bless murphy is ill. He has a slightly high temperature with his diarrhea. £60 later and a 5 day course of antibiotics, steroid injection and some pro biotic stuff for his tummy. Vet has said to feed him rice and boiled chicken for the next couple of days and slowly ween him back onto the kibble and meat. I think I may have moved him onto his new kibble a bit too quickly. At least he can now get better
