So, I was looking in Karma's mouth today, which I try to do every few days and one of her canine teeth is broken. She's 7 months old now.
I do feed raw but the hardest bones she gets are turkey wings and backs. She hasn't had either since the last time I looked in her mouth, so those aren't the culprit. How could a tooth break? Sent from my iPhone using Petguide.com Free App |

Are you sure it is a permanent tooth? Could it be her permanent tooth coming in?
If it is, she could have broken it on something she shouldn't have been chewing - like a rock. Or, got whacked in the mouth. My dog has run right into things when he is acting like a lunatic. I would have the vet take a peek at it. |

Poultry bones would not crack or break it. Antlers, hard toys, marrow bones and rocks can. Is it just the tip thats broken?

Ya, its just the tip. I tried to take a picture, but its not the greatest.
She does love gnawing on the antler and is always carrying it around and what not with it. She loves chewing sticks and tree stumps too but they tend to be softer than bones. I feel like a bad Boxer mom ![]() Sent from my iPhone using Petguide.com Free App |

And yes, its a permanent tooth. I doubt she has any baby teeth left.

Your not a bad momma at all. Not a lot of people do a weekly once over to make sure their babies are in tip top shape.
I hate Antlers, they are way to dense and can chip, fracture or break teeth. I would remove it.

I have several antlers for stella, she has a deer, elk, and moose. She would chew the deer and elk every once in a while, but once i brought the moose in the picture, that's the only one she uses. She actually scrapes it and is almost half way gone now=-O
She gets it soggy and gross and basicly eats it... goofy dawg |
