I just brought home my 6 week old girl Mabyn the other day, all seems to be going well. Everything normal. I've never had a puppy this young though and I'm wondering if there's a trick to get her chewing on the toys instead of me! Every time she starts gnawing on me I put a toy in her mouth instead. I've got several types of nylabone and a couple other toys for teething puppies. In fact she seems to care more about my older dogs ball more than any of the toys I got specifically for her... And that ball is almost as big as her!!
I'll attach a couple pics for reference and because who doesn't love babies! ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Sent from my iPhone using Petguide.com Free App Last edited by hellonightmare; 01-07-2013 at 09:00 PM. |

She is precious! Mine just turned 7 months old and was quite the chewer of hands, feet, any appendages, too. You are doing just right...offer toys instead. I thought she was never going to stop, but it really did get better with time. :-) Your baby is such a cutie!

Thank you and thank you! It looks like our Leopard Dog, Dottie is trying to get Mabyn more interested in toys.. She keeps grabbing them and pushing them against Mabyn's face. Thanks for the help Dottie but it seems Mabyn is only interested in screaming chew toys lol

Welcome and your baby is adorable! She's young and she would be chewing on her siblings or her mom right about now. Momma would only take so much and then correct her so you are doing the right thing by substituting appropriate chew toys. Just make sure you inspect the toys for any loose bits. Puppy teeth are sharp!!!

I should mention one of the reasons I got her so young is because her mom got really sick and couldn't nurse them on the antibiotics. I helped my friend (the breeder) bottle feed and take care of them which I hope helped form some bond with my little girl. Their dad is extremely protective of them, even more so than their mom and my bf couldn't go near them when he stopped by to see them a few weeks ago. He knows me though! ![]() Dad standing watch. ![]() ![]() ![]() My girl saying bye to Dad. ![]() And kissing Mom goodbye. We do plan on visiting Mom and Dad fairly often, do you think they will recognize her? Sent from my iPhone using Petguide.com Free App |
