Default Jackpot!

I just came home from the store with some good eatins for the girls.

I went to get lean ground beef as I havent put my bulk order in yet. So i picked up 10lbs for them at a cost of 9.90! I also found some lean ground lamb for 1.99/lb and bout 2 1/2 pounds for something bew. I will be going back for that price! I found my sardines which are 3.29 for a 12 pack and got them 2 dozen since the both devour them! Thought i would try smelts too. Only 3.50 for 90 of those little suckers!

I also found beef heart for 1.59/lb and another new thing for them is pork heart at 1.59/lb. I was hoping to order some pork heart in my order because its leaner and hope they dont get tummy upset with that like they do pork.

I also found pork spleen to have them try. Its time for a new organ for Karma and Des should be onto that soon too.

I just finished packaging it all up and my freezers are full!! I had to take a cpl turkeys out to fit it all in. Will have to take time tomorrow and portion those out to make it all fit snug!

Ya... I saw the price and grabbed a couple. After the holidays I'm going to get more. It was a smaller store and they had a dozen or so more, all of it frozen. Some packages look a bit freezer burnt on the outside edges. I'll talk to a manager and see if I can get a discount. Lamb would make protein #6. I still want to get my hands on some deer or moose but my freezers cant handle much more.

I also see turkeys are now 77 cents a pound. I got 7 at 87 cents but would like a few more at that price. I might see if my mom has room for 2-3. She should since we cleaned out her freezer two weeks ago. Of course the girls got some goodies, including beef heart.

Kari, question for you... If i feed fish regularly do i need to suppliment with omegas and vit e? Regularly would mean a sardine or smelt or whatever fish i can get every 2 days. Or is that too often? Also, wheres the best place to get kelp powder?

You can buy kelp at the raw dog store I go to on brant and upper middle. I'm not sure how much but boxing week everything is 10% off.

I give my girls omega 3 vitamins but not vitamin e. should they get that too??

Good deals!!! My freezer is sooo full lol

I've read that you should give vit e with the omega oils. I think, dont quote me but i think something counter reacts with the omega oils and so you need to give vit e too.

Thanks! Should they be getting kelp too? I was feeding them pre made raw so I hadn't added anything. I actually ordered a couple books on feed raw so I understand it. I want to make sure I'm giving my girls everything they need.

I went ahead & got my girls the fish oil at Petsmart. It's a fish oil that also contains vitamin e.

I wouldn't count the added Vitamin E as enough all the time. Most feed 400 IU of E daily along with salmon oil.
