So my second bulk order of turkey necks came in wrong. Instead of getting tom necks they gave me a box of young turkey necks which are considerably smaller! The place I order from close at 11:30am on Sat and don't reopen until Monday. I'm not a happy camper right now.
I don't have room to store a full box in this condition (a big block of necks) so I'm breaking them down to give them a go. Of course now I worry they're a choking hazard. Do any of you feed young turkey necks? Will I be crazy for trying them with my two? They are thorough chewers so I'm hoping they'll be ok with them. What do you think?

They will be fine. I am currently feeding smaller than normal necks right now too. I had to thaw the whole 33lb block in my tub, lol.

What are TOM necks?? No wonder your necks looked so huge!! I'm used to the ones that come out of young turkeys. And I've been feeding those to my dogs with no problems.

The tom necks are the huge ones I got last time. They weighed over a pound each for most of them. The ones I just got say young turkey necks on the box, but the receipt shows hen necks so I'm not sure which one I really got or if they're pretty much the same size to begin with. Once they thaw enough I'll post comparison pics.

Here are some size comparison shots.
The first pic is one of the tom necks I got in my initial order. The second is one of the young necks I just got. This one was one of the larger ones. There were several much smaller.

The young turkey necks are what I feed Rex n Gizzmo all the time there about 6-8oz each.. I actually prefer them to the huge ones easier for my little dog to chew!! I just give Rex 2-3 of them
