Default Love at first sight

One day I was talking with my neighbor and she told me that there were four boxers at the shelter. * So I had to go and see! Well the next day after work I went to the shelter and there was only two boxers left. When I got to Melvin's cage I looked at a dog sitting at the back of his cage. I had to coach him to get him to come see me. He wasn't afraid just so sad. When he got there he looked up into my eyes and he looked like he couldn't fathom what he was doing there. He was becoming introverted. But I saw a softness and gentle nature in those eyes and I fell in love on the spot. I couldn't pick him up that day but promised him that I would be back the very next day. It was so hard to leave him there. The next day true to my word I was there. The first thing I did is take him into my arms and he leaned into me and stayed there. It made me cry. I took of his choke chain and left it at the shelter. I told the man "he won't be needing this!" I put him into the back seat with my son and he sat on his knee with his head on his shoulder all the way home * Melvin we found out had been in 3 homes already at the age of 9 months. He had issues with separation and would cry each time someone would leave the house., even if there were four others still there. We worked really hard with him and Zoe helped so much. He is just the best dog. When we got him he was so skinny his ribs and hip bones were showing. Well he is now the picture of health and a real happy boy. He is a joy and sometimes is cheeky . Some fool let this wonderful dog go, but their loss is truly *my gain. We love you Melvin !!!

Wow, how touching. Thank goodness you could see what a wonderful soul was hiding inside that sad little pup. He's blessed to have found you and your family. We also have a rescue and the amount of love they bring into your life is just amazing. Thank you for sharing Melvin's story!

I so believe that there is the right person/family for these babies and I am so glad you found Melvin. *Kudos to you to help him work through his issues.
