I always just wanted a Rottweiler. *My hubby said that if he was to get another dog it would be a Boxer. *He grew up with Boxers. *Their dog Duke taught him how to walk! *He does walk kinda wonky and that explains it *
A coworker's sister had a Boxer that they were trying to find a good home for. *They are people who have alot of money and just got bored with the dog and were moving onto other things to get bored of. *We went to see him and right away we knew it was our baby. *We have had Luke for 5 years now and he is the love my life. *He changed my life so much that I immediately wanted another one! * At the time we adopted Luke we lived in an apartment but when we decided to buy a townhouse we thought it was time to get a Leia for our Luke. *Several years before this time, I had met a lady to started a rescue. *I contacted her and filled out an application after going to several other rescues (that were frustrating as heck). *We didn't think we would ever find our baby. *Then one day I got a call from the lady I met and she told me about a beautiful girl in an Idaho kill shelter. *She had been contacted from a rescue there that wanted to take her but could not find any room for her. *This baby had dog tags and they were able to contact the owner. *When they did speak to the owner she replied "oh that dog. *Shes been gone for months and we don't want her anymore!" *CAN YOU IMAGINE? *Three days before she was to be euthanized she got on a plane and came home to be our Princess Leia. * Leia's story moved me so much I wanted to get involved with rescue. *I have been involved with our rescue for sometime now and its so addictive. *I love being able to help these wonderful dogs find such loving and deserving homes. *There is alot of heartbreak and hard work but it is so so so rewarding! We recently adopted our boy Han Solo in September thru my rescue. *His owner had lost his home due to a foreclosure and moved away, leaving Han tied up in the backyard for days with no water or food. *A kind neighbour took him in and contacted our rescue. *We now have a Han Solo and couldn't be happier.
