No tennis balls for Dempsey (or rope toys with tennis balls on them, or Kong rubber balls) - he can destroy one in five minutes or less. The only time he gets to play with one is at the dog park - and he LOVES it! He doesn't destroy them, as long as he's constantly playing fetch. But...let him keep it for a couple of minutes, and it's done.
Luckily, he also likes chasing ropes and Frisbees. |

Maggie ate a tennis ball within a toy once and scared me. She won't fetch so I just don't let her have them anymore. It was her favorite baby toy too.

Sally will loose tennis balls, hide chews, bones, cardboard etc under the counch, she will lay down on her side and try to get her leg under the couch and get it out, only she ends up scratching the couch.
So i like you have been trained to get down and get the toy out. Only I am now learning to either shove Sally out of the way or lay ontop of her otherwise I get lick attacked when I put my head to the ground to find her missing toy... As to tthe original question about tennis balls I have heard they are bad for their teeth if they are allowed to chew on them, But I would figure they would be ok for a good game of fetch or chase around the house. Everything is bad in excess... everything can be good in moderation! |
