Wow, that is a tough one. My dogs prefer me loving on them over toys. When you have a big ole German Wirehaired Pointer nose knocking your arm up in the air so that it will fall on her back so you will pet her, or having her climb on you to get your undivided attention you sort of wish she would interact more with you with toys. Shiro climbs on my lap. He uses his head as leverage to get up on me. The Beagle just stares at me.
Now, my daughter's Boston is obsessed with toys. She had to take one squeak toy away from him just to have some silent time in the house. He forces himself on her and me with toys and we used to give into his constant harrassment. What we did, and what you are doing is practice at home ignoring your dog when she is doing what ever she does to try to get you to play with her, and then only play with her when you initiate play time. It is no fun ignoring a dog that wants to play with you and toys all the time, but it will eventually work. I have gotten to were I have to ignore Mags if I am busy when she is up in my face or forcing my hand on her. I hate doing it.

It's part of her grief process, BUT she still needs to have good behavior..As much as you may want to overlook things due to her grieving, you did the right thing by ignoring her..Short time outs work well too..I used to leash Angel to a door knob for 5 mins, if she calmed down, I released her..Try that and see how she does

I just do not agree with putting them down. Not at 2! They are still learning. Ignoring is a good thing, they will learn that the behavior is unacceptable, but i never think you should put them down! It can almost always be corrected!
