Update:
Jersey did pretty good over the weekend and has been getting better at trying to let us know when she needs to go out. But now it seems she back to old habits!! Yesterday was great - she pooped yesterday after breakfast at about 8am, again at 11am outside, after supper at 5pm outside, again outside at 9pm. So thats 4 times outside which was great. She was having a great day! Then she woke me up this morning at 5am to a big poop in her kennel. Her kennel area is sectioned off pretty small and it seems she flings it all over the floor in front of her kennel and smushes it into her blanket. I washed off her paws, washed the kennel area, changed her blanket and put her back to bed. Woke up at 8am to another poop in the kennel. She ate breakfast and pooped again before 9am. I left for work at 915 and came home at 11:15 to ANOTHER POOP! Why is she pooping so much? Do I have her on the wrong food maybe? She is on Simply Nourish Chicken & Rice Puppy formula. She has a few rawhide small toys? Maybe that is doing it? She was doing so good for a couple days and now its all gone again. Inside of 6 hours she managed to poop 3 times in her kennel. She eats about 1/2 cup in the AM and a full cup in the PM. She just turned 12 weeks and weighs about 10-12 lbs. She seems healthy and the vet said she's healthy? Her poops look solid and seem fine. I AM SO FRUSTRATED!!! Last edited by jerseytheboxer; 12-03-2012 at 01:04 PM. |

Also do you think she should be de-wormed again? She was dewormed once before we got her but my brother-in-law's lab puppy was over here playing (and pooping) in her area and they discovered he had worms last week!

That's a lot of poop! I don't have much advice but rawhide makes my dog gets the runs sometimes or he just poops frequently, good luck!

Welcome to the forum; Jersey is a cutie!!! I hear your anguish, patience and perseverance are key! Also keep in mid she is adjusting to her new home and after trying to adjust to her last home this may take a while. Yes to the above advice on Nature's Mircle it is a great enzyme remover. Is her crate small/big enough for her to stand, sit and lie down only? pick her up every time you take her to potty to the same spot and say 'go potty' that's the word we use for our boys and when she does, praise, praise, praise and treat. I would take away the raw hide, I don't give it to my boys. I would just stick to her current kibble 3 times a day morning, noon and supper time. take her to potty after she eats, after she plays, after she wakes up and watch for signs of sniffing and circling as this also indicates she is ready to go potty...she's still very young and adjusting. Hang in there

oh as for the worms; have you had your vet check her out yet? She should be tested/treated for worms before getting her next round of innoculations.

I did by the Nature's Miracle cleaner. It seems to work better. Her kennel is barely big enough for her to turn around but she still manages to poop in there and try to cover it up and smoosh it into her blanket. Then she scrapes on the kennel itself and flings poop everywhere around the kennel, Its all over her paws as well so the clean up process includes: disassembling the kennel and cleaning it (its a wire crate), cleaning the tray, changing the bedding, and washing Jersey's paws. One can only do that so many times in a day without getting fed up.
Today she ate at 830am and pooped RIGHT after she finished. I took her out again at 930 before stepping out for 45 minutes. Came home at 1020 and she pooped again!! Her poops look fine. I don't think she has worms. Why does she poop twice within 2 hours after a meal? I don't get it! This is my first time with a boxer, but I've house broken a purebred black lab and a husky in my life and never had this many problems! ARGHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! |

Wow!! I don't know what to tell you. I have never had a dog poop like that. I know none of my girls got any kind of bedding in their kennels till they were no longer going potty in the kennel. I wish you the best. Maybe get her back in with the vet to get her checked. I wish you the best.

I think I'm starting to look at Seperation Anxiety. Jersey had a perfect weekend. We were off work Friday so Friday, Saturday, Sunday perfect. Not a single accident. But we didn't leave her alone at all.
Last night (Sunday night) she pooped in the kennel. Then she pooped in the kennel twice again today when we were at work eventhough I come home to let her out every 3-4 hours at the most. This mornings accident happened and I was only gone 50 mins. Not sure what to do anymore. |
