Well here's the story. We have had Zoe & Storm for 6 weeks now, they seem to know that they are supposed to go to the bathroom when they go out. But they don't know there not supposed to go in the house. I have tried picking them up and carrying them out when they start to go and everything.
So basically my question is how long does it usually take for dogs to pick up the house training thing. I know all dogs are different. Its so hard to watch two crazy puppies at all times. |

I picked up my puppy at 8 weeks of age she is now going on 13 weeks. This is what I did with minimal accidents.
When taking the puppy out of their crate if you are crate training do not let them walk on the floor. For some reason once their feet hits the floor they start to pee right away. I always carried my puppy to the door from the crate. This was pretty much the outline of my day.... Wake up around 630 take her out. Feed her. Put her back in the crate for about 30 minutes then take her out again. Usually she would poo and pee. If she did go to the bathroom then i would leave her out of her crate for about an hour and play with her. Then take her out again. If she went great if not the back in the crate for about 30 minutes then back out again to pee. Feed lunch...back in crate for 30 minutes then out to go potty. If nothing then back in crate. The cycle just repeats itself. It worked very well. I always took her out after playing with her too. I found taking her out about every hour seemed to work very well. She had minimal accidents in the house. All of the accidents were do to me not taking her out to pee on time or not watching her. If she started to sniff I would take her out and 99% of the time she would go. Just last week she finally started getting it. She actually went to the front door. So I thought ok good. Took her out and she peed. I praised her like crazy and she has been going to the front door ever since when she needs to go out. It's like something just clicked. So smart she is. LOL It takes time and patience but they will def. get it. Good luck |

We've had our little one since she was 7 weeks old (Mum had no milk and vet told breeder that the pups can go home, ours was the last to leave and gave the mum and infection from trying to suckle) She is now around 14 weeks old. We still have the occasional accident but she is getting the hang of going down stairs tells us that she needs to pee.
We did not keep her in the crate much, only at night but she spends the days in my other halfs office so it's a smaller room, maybe that helped I don't know. The first time i saw her running to go pee i was soo proud! |

Well my pups are going on 18 weeks now and for whatever reason they are still peeing in the house. This is really driving me crazy, I know it takes awhile until they are completely poty trained but it seems like it is more then a little accident here and there.
We put them out as soon as they come out of the crate, they pee right away. As soon as they go I prasie them. They go right out after every meal and do there business. But when they are in the house running around playing or whatever they just think they can poty where ever they want. We put them out all the time at night. |

I bet having two pups running around and not being able to keep an eye on the ALL the time is the reason why you are having trouble. They are getting away with it too often. We got Rocky at 9 weeks. He hasn't had a poo in the house since he was 11 weeks old. And he still has the everyonce in a while pee accident. He had one yesterday @ my dad's.. but it was my fault. I had to put him in another room while changing my dads wound bandage and he scrached the door and whined.. I put it off as he just wanted out of the room... Oops.. Nope he had to pee
Anyways, I think your pups may still be confused? If they get away with it here and there when you don't see them then they are still thinking it is ok to do in the house. I have read in many places to take them out every couple of hours. I took Rocky out every 45min to an hour!! I found that if I did not take him out this often he would pee on the floor. If he did not go when I took him out then I would put him in his crate for 10 min, let him out again and he would usually go outside

Our Maggie took FOREVER to potty train, and we dispaired she would ever get it but she finally did. We used a crate and love that method, but Maggie would go out, do her business and go again within 15 minutes of coming inside. She had very poor control and peed frequently. course it didn't help that she drinks line an elephant! Are you taking them out every hour? We did with both of ours until they were almost a year old - just cause....
