Starting from the beginning
We have been gone on vacation for 2 weeks. Yes, during that time our 9 mo old Tyson was exposed to a lot of new things and was neutered. He did beautifully with everything, and was never scared, even during the 24 hr car ride back and forth. Well, we just got back to Arizona about 5 hrs ago and I just have a question. He is my first boxer, and they are supposed to be soooo smart, but I'm not sure why he is acting like he has no idea what home is. We have had him since he was 7 wks old- until this vacation, our home/condo is the only home he's ever known. When we first got out of the car he didn't want to go play in our big play area he always plays ball in. Then, when we got in the house he acted all freaked out like he'd never been in here before- except for the dogs crates, everything was like it was before we went on vaca. Then, he is used to the upstairs neighbors dog and he wouldn't even go potty in our yard because of this dog upstairs. Then, when I took him for a walk down our canal/ bike trail, he freaked out! Before, he absolutely loved the bikes- sometimes pple would stop to pet him previously - he has never had a reaction to bikes, but he did today. Do I chalk this up to him just being a puppy and going through a scared phase, or is it him just being riled up from vaca?? I just don't understand it. If they are so smart, how can he not remember a place and reutine he has had from day one - and only broke for two weeks recently. Why can't he remember anything? Why do we have to start over from the beginning, grrrr!
