Default Dime sized mass on boxers head

My boxer has had a hard mass on top of his head since he was around 7 months old. I took him to the vet and they told me it was a keratin deposit. He is now 2 years old and has 3 of them on the top of his head. I am concerned and am going to make another appointment to have it rechecked. Had anyone had a similar growth on their boxers head? What did you do to remedy it? I would rather my dog not have surgery for something that is non life threatening.

Oh poor baby! It's been slow here lately but there are members that would have some idea of what's going on for you ... give it some time. Welcome aboard.

Did your vet do a needle aspirate on the mass? You just never know about any type of lump unless it goes to the lab. I've spent a fortune having our local vet remove lesions of all types, and taking the risk with anesthesia over the years. We have found a mast cell recently.

I have not gotten a referral to an oncologist, but found one anyway who is about 1/3rd of the cost of my vet, and deals with this all the time.

Get a second opinion of you don't like the diagnosis, or lack of.

It looks like a keratin deposit, however these will continue to grow so it is best to remove it now while it is small.

My boxer has had a number of lumps and pimples. She has had two surgeries. Only one was a localized cancer. It is well worth it to take them off.
