Default Food Allergies?

HI, everyone.
I have a question, problem or both. Sunomi has been biting his paws and rubbing his chin on the floor? could this be food allergies? He had Demodex mites, I had him rechecked for those, that's not it. I have changed his food to a sensitive skin and stomach formula as the vet suggested, but I have seen no change. It has been about a month. He has had no grain feed, didn't like it, some of the other gives him hives. I'm at my wits end. I thought I'd see if you guys had any suggestions or solutions for me to try before we make another trip to the vets. We about live there anymore.
Please help me!!! Thanks,

How old is Sunomi. The chin, is it kind of red and is Sunomi scratching it? We're going through a bout of acne with Kona right now. I thought it was an allergy but the vet said acne.

It could be a food allergy. What kind of food is he eating? The three biggest allergens in food are corn, wheat, and soy, so make sure there is none of that in the food. It could be other ingredients as well, but those three are a good starting point.
It could also be yeast. Maddie has issues with yeast in her ears, in between her toes, and on her chin. I have to clean out her ears at least once a week, and for her paws and chin I use baby wipes with a solution of 1/2 white vinegar, and 1/2 rubbing alcohol. That usually takes care of her flare ups.
I hope Sunomi does not have food allergies, because if it's not those three ingredients it may be tough to figure out what he is allergic to. May have to do an elimination diet to find out.
I would try the vinegar and alcohol wipes and see if that helps him. Just make sure not to rub that on any open sores because it will burn.
Good luck!

Sunomi is 11 months old. His chin isn't red, yet. I am feeding him Purina Pro Plan for sensitive skin and stomach. I will try the wipes on him. He doesn't have any open sores as of yet. He has had a rough life, we got him when he was 6 months old and the poor dog had all kinds of health problems. He is much better now, except for a few minor things, this being one of them. And food giving him the poops and hives. We had him neutered 3 weeks ago and he was on antibiotics, that wouldn't do it, would it?
Grasping at straws now.

I just looked over the ingredients. You may want to consider a lamb formula, it tends to be easier on the system and fewer dogs are allergic to it. Just food for thought.

Its really hard to find the right food, some have problems with chicken like my Kiah but she does well on fish based foods. Heather's Hanny has problems with fish based foods. It may take some time to find the right food.

I figured this out from my boy's experience with Eagle Pack Holistic Select. He was on the Large Breed Puppy formula and did beautifully, then as soon as we switched him to the adult he started getting sick, then we switched him to fish and he was still sick. Then he was switched over to Acana Light & Fit and he did okay, but still kind of sick. Then I started really, really researching dog nutrition. Turns out the puppy formula is lamb based, adult is chicken. So, he had issues with Chicken and fish. We're now in the process of switching him to Acana Lamb & Apple and he's like a brand new dog.
Any decent lamb and rice formula should be good though. It's usually a bit pricier, but well worth it. You just have to read ingredients, a lot will say they are lamb, but still have chicken in it or fish oils.
