Default When do I stop feeding puppy food?

When would you say is the best time to stop feeding puppy food and move to a adult formula?I currently feed them Pedigree Puppy Chow. I'm sure there are more expensive dog foods that I should be feeding them, but those foods don't fit into my budget. I also feed 6 teenagers...lol. 4 of which are boys and they are always starving!

lol wow 4 boys!

I've always heard that you should feed puppy up until they turn a year old and then switch to an adult food. I may be wrong, hopefully someone will correct me if I am

I have heard a year, and I also heard 2 years. It's all on what you choose to do. When in doubt, as your vet.

I switched to an all stages food, so don't have to worry about that now.

I dont think its necessary to feed puppy food after 8 mths of age. When I fed kibble it was usually an all life stages so I didnt really worry about it.

I know your question was about when to switch to an adult food and not about what brand to feed, but I'm going to suggest some different food anyway. Sorry can't help myself.
I do understand about budgets though, so keeping that in mind I'm guessing you pay somewhere around $15 for a 20 pound bag of Pedigree?
If you have a Tractor Supply near you - Diamond Naturals is about $29 for a 40 pound bag.
If you belong to a Costco near you, Kirkland Signature is around $28 for a 40 pound bag.
Both of those foods are comparable in price to Pedigree, but have better ingredients.

You said you could afford the high prices but am wondering if there wasn't a typo somewhere. Are you feeding purina or the better foods?

I mentioned prices based on what is here in NJ (and NJ is a little on the expensive side). Prices do vary across the country. But if you know where to look and what to look for you can actually buy a better quality food with healthier ingredients for about the same price as the cheaper poor quality food (within a dollar or two). It doesn't hurt for anyone to comparison shop.

We do have a tractor supply not to far from our house, I will go in and compare the prices and ingredients, thanks for the advice. I'm sure they will eat what ever I give them, since they like eating everything else. Pillow, shoes, clothes, today it was a couch cushion. LMAO
