Hello everyone! about six months ago i came home to the cutest brindle boxer puppy and i have been in love since. Rigby is my first experience with the boxer breed and i love him to bits and all his boxer characteristics (like snoring with his eyes still open) and being a first time "mom" i worry about him constantly, i need advice so maybe someone can help, we had his ears cropped and been going through what the vet calls training but lately his ears seem to be having some kind of reaction to the tape and he gets these sores and it just looks bad so we did take the tape off and they seem to be getting better but should we continue with the taping or is that just putting him through to much? help?

I know there is this spongey stuff that they can glue in between the ears to keep them up. My neighbour's Doberman had to have that done.
I'll see if I can find a picture - or if anyone else knows what I'm talking about and can post a pic that would be great! hehe |

Welcome, I am new to the boxer world as well, My Moka is 7-8 months old and she is a very good girl. One thing I have noticed is that she is coughing a bit after she eats and plays. I am getting a bit worried. Boxers are so funny. Their personality is great!

Hi & Welcome!! Sorry, I am no help as far as the ears go. I left my girls ears natural. Moka, is your pup eating to fast?? I've been around friends that when their dogs eat to quick, they cough cause they aren't chewing their food. Even seen them cough & whole pieces of kibble come back up.

Boxers generally have very sensitive skin. Perhaps your pup is having an allergic reaction to the tape you're using. My guys are natural so this is just a guess.

to me the tape looks like regular athletic tape but i think you are right i do believe it is some kind of allergic reaction because since we took them off they appear to be getting better. its times like this that i wish we didn't crop his ears he had such cute natural ones.
