Greetings!
I've been a first time boxer owner for a few months now, and just had to register and post a big thank you to the community of these forums. I am so grateful for the wealth of knowledge and experience expressed here as I learn about the breed, and my new best friend. I know we've got a ways to go, but thanks to everyone here, our journey together can be a little less bumpy. I met my boxer in July in the backyard of a friend's family member. She was 8 months old at the time and had spent the majority of her life in an outdoor overgrown 10'x10' chicken-wire enclosure. Aside from the inadequate conditions, the first thing I noticed about her was a concentric scar around her waste. After questioning the owner he informed me the scar was from being tangled in a run as a puppy, he went on to explain that he had aggravated an old hip injury sustained while serving in the military shortly after receiving her and couldn't get to her in time. This injury had also kept him from giving her the proper care she deserved. After accepting my offer to take her off of his hands and promising a good home for her, I couldn't find a leash fast enough. In the time that has passed since that day, she has become not only my partner and best friend, but a welcome and loving addition to the family. And I owe a lot of that thanks to the knowledge I've learned in these forums. From behavior and nutrition, to introducing her to my bear-of-a-cat, you all have been my go-to source of knowledge, and I hope to continue learning and maybe, just maybe, be able to contribute one day. So without further ado, meet Jade; ![]() She still thinks she's a 5lb lap-dog: ![]() Nap time with my son after a hard morning of play: Enjoying the view, no more runs or pens for you girl: ![]() Life is good now:
