Welcome from Nebraska and congrats on your new addition. Lots of fun times ahead!!
Our most recent rescue girl is from your neck of the woods, Yuba City. She's defo NOT a cold weather dog. She feels the chilly air and does an abrupt about-face back into the house. I think I can hear her grumble about wanting to move back to Cali. LOL

First off, Welcome to the forums from Colorado!
I feel your pain. It had been 7 years between my puppies and my first puppy was soooo easy. Never chewed, got into anything and potty trained in 3 days. To say Horatio was a challenge put it mildly. Boxers are quite frustrating puppies but the love they give makes it 100% worth it. Horatio is the biggest baby ever now. Your little man is absolutely adorable. I just love his coloring and that face is just tooo much. How could you not love that face?! I've said many times since getting my Boxer that he is soooo lucky he's cute cuz otherwise I'd kill him(not really of course but you know what I mean). LOL. Good luck. I'd love to see more pics PS... Thank you for your service in the military. My man is Navy so I know what sacrifices you have to make and how not very fun it can be |

Hello & welcome from Louisiana! There are lots of helpful folks here on this site along with a heap of useful info! I'm learning more and more everytime I log in lol! My girlfriend & I recently acquired our first boxer puppy, and at 11 weeks now, is still a great ball of fun. Seeing the results from working & playing with her, and how she's such a loving companion is great.

Welcome! Your little guy is such a cutie and look at those paws on him! We are right in the same neck of the woods. I am up the hill in Grass Valley. It is nice to have another northern California member.

The crate is the big stress point right now though. I'm trying to be careful so he won't hate it but some crate times are better than others. He started chewing on the bars to get out last night while we were sitting there in the living room with him while trying to have dinner. |

Murphy HATED her kennel to start with. I would sit & put a treat in the kennel to get her to go in. Then after that I'd get her to go in & shut the door. I started out sitting next to the kennel & only leaving her in there for maybe 5 or 10 minutes. Then after a few times, I'd start moving further back away from the kennel. (I'd do this a few times through out the day.) Then finally I'd put her in & walk out of the room. Periodically walk back into the room just so your pup knows that you haven't fully left & showing that you will come back. I wish you the best of luck.

Welcome, me and my fur babies are in Sacramento also!! I just got a little brindle guy about a month ago! He's just a few weeks older than your guy. I totally know what you're going through, mbut it really is worth it. My six year old boxer and I both made it through her puppyhood, and she is a GEM!! I always joke they are so cute as a survival mechanism!!!! Try and be patient and consistent, and lots of exersice and puzzle toys! Let me know if you and your girlfriend would be interested in getting the pups together for a playdate after all the shots!
