I am sorry that you are going through this. I am sure that Lily has always sensed how much you love her and that is probably the only thing that matters to her. Whether her life is cut short or not, a dog knows when they are loved....

I truly feel for you and Lily. I believe that our fur children come to us to teach us about true love. The love we share is indescribable.
Lily is so blessed to have you. You'll know when the time is right for both of you. Although I have only been on this forum a short time, this is a place of great strength and support. I agree with the others who support you in visiting your doctor for help. There is no shame in asking for help, we all need it. Sascha Sent from my iPhone using Petguide.com Free App

Oh I am sorry you and your Lily are going through this. It is absolutely heart breaking. Many of us here do feel your anguish and pain. You are doing a wonderful thing by being with her as you work from home (I am a little jelly) Hang in there and be strong for your girl. Lily knows you love her ...kisses and hugs to your girl

Thank you all for the kind words. It means a lot to know that people are willing to talk and chat if needed. I took Lilly for a ride today and got her B12 shot. I also went to a doc today and he prescribed xanax. I took one and I do feel better. I can actually think about her and not cry. I may feel a little loopy but thats ok. Had the motivation to clean the kitchen and do 3 loads of laundry. She followed me around the whole time. I do have to say that when the doctor said "now you just go get another dog and that will help", I wanted to tell him to f-off. There is no replacement for my Boxer, and it will take years before I am ready to search for another. But he probably doesn't understand this unless you experience it.
I hope she knows how much I love her.... while my family got together for Christmas, I spend the whole time alone at home with her on the couch watching TV. It was a bad day where she did not move much. Isn't it amazing that the love you have for a pet can completely break you down to nothing when they are close to the end? I have always been a very happy person my whole life. This is my first try with anti-depressants, I am glad they exist. |

I am so sorry you are going through this terrible sad time. Many of us have recently been through the same thing and can feel the pain and heartbreak you are going through. Your love for her shines through in this post. Hugs from Iowa.

She knows how much you love her. Even before Winnie was sick I would just whisper in his ear how much I loved him. He knew and Lilly knows. Be patient with people that don't understand the bond you and Lilly share. It's their loss really. After Winnie died my father, who isn't an animal person, said how at least I had another dog. Like I had a spare. I'm sorry he doesn't get it but that's okay. We all get it. If you need to talk you can send me a pm.
