Hi Everyone! I figured it was time to tell my story about how I became a boxer lover. It all started Easter Sunday....I have wanted a dog for the longest time and have begged my husband for one. He always talked me out of it saying "we are to busy to take care of a dog...blah blah blah" Well on Easter Sunday, we finished dinner with the family and stopped at a local pet store to buy cat food. The minute I walked in I saw a bulldog and a boxer. After begging my husband, he finally agreed to let me get one. I wanted to bulldog but he said he wanted the boxer. At first I didn't understand why he would want the boxer. I always thought boxers were mean aggressive dogs that drooled a lot. Anyway, I agreed to get the boxer because I just wanted a dog.
She was all white and we named her Mattie. The first month she was at the vet almost every other day. She was so sick. She had worms, kennel cough, pneumonia, and distichiasis (which she needed eye surgery for). Even through all this we absolutely became obsessed with her. She has been the most affectionate, fun loving dog we ever encountered. Fast forward 5 months later, I was sleeping and felt something lick my face. My husband brought home another dog without asking me. At first I was extremely stressed over having another dog. We lived in an apartment and it was tough trying to house train the first one. We named him Rocky and he is fawn. He is an absolute sweet heart. I couldn't imagine my life without him. Three weeks ago we learned of a senior boxer that needed fostering because her owner had died. She was recently diagnosed with degenerative myelopathy and uses a cart to ambulate. Her care requires a lot of work but she's worth it. She crawls around my house chasing after my cats. lol I was wondering if anyone has/had experience with DM. I have read multiple websites regarding the disease process. From what I understand, they are considered to be in the late stage of the progession of the disease. Their health will deteriorate rapidly...anywhere from 3-6 months. I'm just trying to prepare myself mentally and emotionally. I absolutely love her. |

Don't take this the wrong way but EWWWWWW PHILLY ;-) with that being said, hello from Pittsburgh!!! Sorry had to jag ya on that one! If anyone knows anything about Pa, you'll know for some unexplained reason, people from Philly and Pitt hate each other and I think it's a state law we can't talk to one another! Anyways, if I keep it a deep dark secret, I can be your friend and hello from Pittsburgh! Would love to see pics of the "kids"! Hope I gave you a laugh today and didn't offend you!

Had to laugh at this one. But I guess I'll join the deep dark secret as I am a Pittsburgh girl as well. Hi & Welcome from TX though (living here due to hubby being military). I have never dealt with this so I can't help you. Sorry!! I can't wait to see some pictures of your fur babies.
