Yep, time to start reaching out to people. I find the dog shows aren't the best place to actually talk to people. Every one is in such a hurry to get dogs groomed and most handlers have 20 plus dogs to show.
If you have a dog you would like to show, look for conformation classes with a dog trainer. They are usually done weekly with a group of other people interested in showing. This is where you can talk to other breeders or ppl and get recommendations. It also helps prepare you and your dog for the ring. There are many owner handlers out there
If you are looking to purchase a show prospect, look for a breeder who is active in the ring. You can do this by attending a few shows or as mentioned above contacting your local breed club and asking for a referral to a breeder.
